Bow Lake is located on the Bow River, in the Canadian Rockies. Bow Lake was one of the stops during driving on the Icefields Parkway. It was a cloudy morning, I was amazed by the magnificent peaks and reflections on the lake. The view is stunning. Spending some time walking around the lake, the sceneries of Canadian Rockies are out of this world.

One of the most popular amateur climbing mountains in the Phoenix area lies northeast of the metro area.Pinnacle Peak offers a "moderate" difficulty climb, though this climber only made it halfway...hiking shoes are definitely needed! LOL
Even though I already uploaded two images from our only morning at the Seceda, I find it so impressive that I also want to share this post-sunrise image which seems to work very well in a square crop. Here, the golden light of the rising sun was already gone and I though that the harsher light from the higher sun won’t make for any good images. However, I then thought that the sun might touch one of the peaks giving me the opportunity of creating a nice sunstar and after some waiting, I was indeed rewarded with another beautiful image of this impressive scenery. Hope you like it!
An unforgettable sunrise on Ramshaw Rocks in the Peak District.
The golden dawn light had to be seen to be believed and the alarm call at stupid o clock was quickly forgotten. It's mornings like these that give you inspiration to get out of bed and get out there. I didn't see anyone until about 5 minutes after this shot was taken when another photographer appeared up on the summit rocks.
On a glorious day during Autumn of 2014, an East bound CSX Stack train is headed towards Richmond, VA on the James River Sub.
The highest point in Idaho at 12,662’/ 3859 m, Borah Peak (left) is unique in being primarily composed of limestone (most of the gray rock seen here) that was deposited at the bottom of an ocean 420 million years ago. The slightly younger reddish siltstones on the right side form some wonderful banded strata below the summit of Sacajawea Peak.
Also notable is the light colored band at the base of the mountain seen at the bottom of the picture. I initially assumed this was a road or a trail, but it’s a remnant of a magnitude 4.9 earthquake that hit the area in 1983, the largest quake ever recorded in Idaho. The valley side of the fault dropped as much as 9’/ 2.7 m and the mountain side rose by as much as 3’ / 1 m, leaving a notable fault scarp 21 miles/ 34 km long.
A bitterly cold day in the Peak District, but now I'm acclimatised to the cold after the autumnal warmth of Spain, I made the full traverse of Parkhouse and Chrome Hills yesterday.
I took this shot on my way back down from Chrome, but I wasn't going to attempt the climb and descent of `Parkhouse" again on my return to Earl Sterndale.
The climb up Parkhouse wasn't too bad at first, but whilst the slope was icy, the top quarter inch of any soil areas was soft and it was sticking to the bottom of my Boots making things treacherously slippy. The descent you can see on the distant ridge of Parkhouse was lethal with the steep drop off either side. It certainly concentrated my mind with my heavy camera rucksack not helping my nimble steps on the slippery knife edge limestone rocks.
Anyway I survived the slithering descent and had a lovely day out and I only saw one other hardy walker with his dog. This sheep grazing amongst the snowy grass seemed oblivious to my presence, as I took in this wonderful view of the Peak District Dragon Back!

While it appears that Naches Peak is higher than distant Rainier, it's not even close. At 6452 feet Naches Peak is not even half as high as The Mtn, that tops off at 14,411 feet.

Thanks for taking a double peak peek!
Have a wonderful week!

One of several unofficial named peaks that make up the Indian Peaks, Hopi Peak (12777 ft / 3894 m) rises above Coyote Park on the western side of the Continental Divide. I stopped here for lunch on the first day of my backpacking trip, and was pleased to see, as if on cue, a coyote stroll by on the periphery of the park. These relatively old spruce trees have been spared the ravages of spruce beetles unlike many other old-growth stands in Colorado (e.g. www.flickr.com/photos/wdbowman/51593480726).

Just one of the many amazing peaks in Alberta's impressive Kananaskis Country south of Banff. Peaks galore. I plan on spending more time exploring here. ;-))
Hope your weekend is going wonderfully!

As pointy as they get.
"Pilot Peak is a striking pinnacle in the immediate northeast of Yellowstone National Park. It is part of the volcanic Absaroka Range which forms the massive eastern escarpment of Yellowstone Plateau. It's sharp point made it an unforgettable landmark.
Pilot Peak proved invaluable to pioneers of the Greater Yellowstone region since they, along with the nearby Tetons, mark the boundaries of the steaming plateau known as Colter's Hell. The Washburn expedition in 1870, credited with 'discovering' Yellowstone Park, used Pilot Peak to guide them to the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and the incredible Geyser Basins beyond."
Thanks for taking a look!
May your week be wonderful!

A previously unpublished shot from April 2017 that shows off one of the unique natural light situations from a big city - where natural shadows fall in one direction but reflected sunlight shadows fall in the opposite direction. Enjoy!
Love the colours around the Peak District this time of year, the last of the green looks fantastic against the Heather. Caught some of the last light & just about managed to hold the highlights. The skys a little busy but the light in the valley was loverly.

From pointy peaks to a short flat peak.
Bumpus Butte is located near Tower Junction with the Yellowstone river flowing around it below. Only rises 207 feet but is classified as a mountain.
Enjoy a wonderful Wednesday!

This is a bit of a test shot as it is a heavy crop from the original file and I wanted to see how good an image from the Pentax I could still achieve once cropped in quite tight.
