Oh, and it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
You can't be forever blessed
Still, tomorrow's going to be another working day
And I'm trying to get some rest
That's all I'm trying to get some rest

Simon and Garfunkel's “Concert in Central Park” war die erste CD des Sekretärs (“American Tune” ist Stück Nr. 9). Simon and Garfunkel's "Concert in Central Park" was Secretary's first CD ("American Tune" is track #9). He saw Henri Cartier-Bresson's photobook "America in Passing" on his first business trip to Bilbao in the display of a bookstore right next to his hotel and simply could not resist.
Because that's this boy's name. This handsome labradoodle is ten years old, very sweet and so lovely. His name is Al and we met him today at the pinball championships. Al gives super kisses too.
Right away Paul Simon's song jumped into my head because of this boy's name and the lyrics of the song so appropriate.

"A pilgrim on a pilgrimmage
Walked across the Brooklyn Bridge
His sneakers torn
In the hour when the homeless move their cardboard blankets
And the new day is born
Folded in his backpack pocket
The questions that he copied from his heart
Who Am I in this lonely world?
Where will I make my bed tonight?
When twilight turns to dark
Questions for the angels...
Who believes in angels?
Fools do...
Fools and pilgrims all over the world..."

Good morning, Mr. Leitch.
‘Ave you had a busy day ?”
“Prior to this lifetime
I surely was a tailor
(Good morning, Mr. Leitch.
Have you had a busy day?)
I own the tailor's face and hands
I am the tailor's face and hands and
I know I'm fakin'n it
I'm not really makin' it
This feeling of fakin' it
I still haven't shaken it.”

Cape Town doesn't only have spectacular nature and beautiful coastal views, we also have the African townships, where life is hard and difficult for many people to endure, this little boy is probably around 10 years old and carries a heavy bucket probably filled with clean water where he had to walk for a kilometre or so to fetch it from a central tap for the community, for use at home...
But the best African music and rhythms have started in these townships...
This clip was filmed in Zimbabwe but celebrating SA music...it was the music I grew up with!
And tell me why
Why won't you love me
For who I am, where I am?
He said, "'Cause that's not the way the world is, baby
This is how I love you, baby
This is how I love you, baby.."

Tom, get your plane right on time.
I know your part'll go fine.
Fly down to Mexico.
Da-n-da-da-n-da-n-da-da and here I am,
The only living boy in New York.
I get the news I need on the weather report.
I can gather all the news I need on the weather report.
Hey, I've got nothing to do today but smile.
Da-n-da-da-n-da-da-n-da-da here I am
The only living boy in New York
Half of the time we're gone but we don't know where,
And we don't know here.
Tom, get your plane right on time.
I know you've been eager to fly now.
Hey let your honesty shine, shine, shine
Da-n-da-da-n-da-da-n-da-da
Like it shines on me
The only living boy in New York,
The only living boy in New York.

My little tribute to one of the greatest songwriters of my generation, who just performed his last live concert.
There is a girl in New York City
Who calls herself the Human Trampoline
And sometimes when I'm falling, flying
Or tumbling in turmoil I say
"Whoa, so this is what she means..."

ok so even though this photo makes absolutely no sense and i look ready to feast on human flesh, i like it for some reason
and you're probably thinking i'm a huge douche nozzle because -- (who wears short shorts?) becca's wearing short shorts! -- and i'm sick, BUT it was warm and beautiful today... there was much vitamin D to be had :)

I've come to talk with you again..
One I grabbed the other morning, from my garden.
The corridor to the Clock Tower at Antler Hill Village on the Biltmore Estate. Asheville, North Carolina.
Through the corridors of sleep
Past the shadows dark and deep
My mind dances and leaps in confusion.
I don't know what is real,
I can't touch what I feel
And I hide behind the shield of my illusion.
So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall.
The mirror on my wall
Casts an image dark and small
But I'm not sure at all it's my reflection.
I am blinded by the light
Of God and truth and right
And I wander in the night without direction.
So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall.
It's no matter if you're born
To play the king or pawn
For the line is thinly drawn 'tween joy and sorrow,
So my fantasy
Becomes reality,
And I must be what I must be and face tomorrow.
So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall.

Damn Sugar, that kiss felt so good.
That I'll go from 1 - 50 for you
Just to set myself free.
But Baby, I have to wonder if one day
You'll go from 51 - 100
To free yourself from me...
50 Ways To Leave Your Lover
as performed by Paul Simon
(quoting only appropriate lyrics)
....She said it grieves me so to see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again
I said I appreciate that and would you please explain
About the fifty ways
She said why don't we both just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me and I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover
You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Oh you hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much

April come she will youtube
April come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain;
May, she will stay,
Resting in my arms again.
June, she'll change her tune,
In restless walks she'll prowl the night;
July, she will fly
And give no warning to her flight.
August, die she must,
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold;
September I'll remember
A love once new has now grown old.

I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls.
And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies.
My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day.
And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme.
And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.
And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I.

I just had to find a reason to add their phenomenal live performance of that great Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel, classic, Sounds of Silence. Screened with an orchestra, they knocked my socks off at first hearing and have loved it ever since. I must play this video daily, and more than once as well.
🎧
Don't just take my word for it, yesterday, I discovered that the legend himself, song writer, Paul Simon, was also wowed. He endorsed the cover, and wrote to lead singer, Draiman, saying :"Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I'd seen you do it live. Nice." Draiman, replied he was "honoured beyond words."
🎧
Ironically, where I added an extra "e" to get the play with Disturbed and Disturbeed, the group dropped the letter "s" from their own version and the song became Sound of Silence. If you want to see why the Conan barnstormer has been viewed more than 81M times, ... ♪♫♪ Click Here ♪♫♪. 😊

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a streetlamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dare
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence
