This is a tiny rough diamond photographed under reflected partial polarised light to show the stepped face growth pattern.

Inside an electric tower - looking up. I want to improve this shot, but it still was an "Ahhh - Got it" shot that I've been thinking about for awhile.

This is for the man-made repetitions and patterns series. Thanks, Jeff for great advice on the post processing. I hope I did it justice.

Last night, as it was so nice, I decided to visit Shawbury Moat, a small 'park' in the village with a medieval moat. I've lived there 14 years, and it's the first time I've been!!

Was pleased to find this Bronze shieldbug there!

I really enjoy the light here as well as the patterns. Taken at Cal Poly Leaning Pine Arboretum, San Luis Obispo, California.

I found a string which is a popular quilt pattern on one of the Blog.spot members by the name of Jane and she drew the Paradox Tangle pattern in different approaches and you can get an endless number of pattern from the same string. I drew seven different designs using the paradox on this same string.

Seeing Drala, Week 1

Not a fan of snakes but I particularly like the vivid green and white patterns. I guess it may have something to do with green being one of my favorite colors. A shot I have done in the past but definitely worth of a new one every now and then.

In a colouring book, a kind of circular open-border Knightsbridge design. Had to try it out :) Filled the centre with Crescent Moon.

Each "bone" is made of 16 squares:

8 white (background)

6 patterned

2 half white/half pattern sewn together diagonally

Each square is 2" finished, so if you're using a 1/4" seam allowance you'll cut out 2-1/2" squares. Remember to add seam allowance to the long side of your triangles, too.

While I was searching the Hoop Love pool for a pattern, I came across this sea scene submitted by user bcampell_to: www.flickr.com/photos/briancampbell/5118571319/. When I showed it to my boyfriend, he thought it'd be funny to have the seagulls attack a picnic rather than a wave. Cue a few minutes search, when I found this pattern submitted by user rectangle: www.flickr.com/photos/rectangel/2314303997/

The major modifications include removing the car and bread from the picnic and the sea from the sea gulls. The picnic blanket is in back stitch, whereas the original called for running stitch. I added in some more grass to help cover the spot the car occupied and took out a few flowers and grass where they conflicted with the seagulls. I also only used three of the original five seagulls.

This is the first vintage pattern I've sewn, and it was quite fun! There is a lot of detached chain stitches in this piece, as well as a nod to me and my boyfriend (it's incredibly subtle.)
