Chora is the capital of Patmos lying in the south central part of the island and a few km south of Skala, the main port of Patmos.
Grikos bay is situated in the southeast. It is approximately 4.5 km from the port in Skala. The road runs parallel to the coast making walking to and from Skala very beautifuland popular especially for joggers.
Patmos, an Aegean island in the north of Greece’s Dodecanese island group, is a significant Christian pilgrimage site. Its Cave of the Apocalypse is where John of Patmos (St. John the Theologian) is said to have written the Book of Revelations. A fortresslike, 11th-century monastery dedicated to the saint overlooks the whitewashed houses of the hilltop capital, Hora (also known as Chora).

Happy weekend my dear Flickr friends!
Patmos is mentioned in the Book of Revelation. The book's introduction states that its author, John, was on Patmos when he was given (and recorded) a vision from Jesus. Early Christian tradition identified this writer as John the Apostle.

Patmos island, Greece, view of the harbor from above near the hilltop village of Chora (which means village, there's a Chora on almost every Greek island). As usual it was extremely windy and 99.9% of my photos turned out blurry, this one was the only keeper from that evening.
The island's capital Patmos or Chora (Hora) is built 3 km southwest of the harbour (Skala). It spills under the walls of the monastery of St.John like roots of a tree.
