The enormous complex of Meenakshi Amman Hindu Temple in Madurai, India is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati. The temple is the pinnacle of South Indian temple architecture and is as vital to the heritage of the south of India, as the Taj Mahal is to the north.

The term Lasya, in the context of Hindu mythology, describes the dance performed by Goddess Parvati as it expresses happiness and is filled with grace and beauty.

This totally improvised picture was inspired by an outfit Lya just picked for a collaboration with Suki you can discover here. I couldn't resist taking a portrait of her, all dressed up for the occasion ♥

Created for the "Award Tree" group's "Surrealist Manifesto" challenge. Classic Surrealist pieces often had long somewhat dreamlike titles provided to further enhance the NON-rationality of the image and to stir the subconscious. I thought I'd give it a crack ...

From an out-take of a series of shots taken in 2014, re-worked and pushed ( and shoved ) into something else.

This was well on its way to join the two most recent pixelated images I've posted but I stopped when I got to this result and thought it best to leave it be. It seemed a good fit for AT's challenge ... so here it is.

Best laid plans .....

Image of God Shiva and Parvati - is one of many statues of Hindu deities inside the Batu Caves, which are limestone caves about 15 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur and home of several Hindu temples.

I took this photo handheld - no flash, in November 1983 with my analog Nikon FE camera on 35mm Kodakchrome slide film, and now scanned with Nikon Coolscan 4000D film scanner.

Ganesha is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. Hindu mythology identifies Him as the restored son of Parvati and Shiva of the Shaivism tradition, but He is a pan-Hindu God found in its various traditions.

One can see Mount Neelkanth on the left and mount Parvati on the right from the ridge top over Chakratirtha....they are considered to be life partners according to Hindu mythology...

One has to climb up straight for an hour to be on the treacherous knife ridge, walk along it and then descend on the moraine slope on the right to attempt Satopant Tal lake...it was a challenging trek but rewarding too...

Ganesh or Ganesha is an elephant-headed Hindu god. In Hinduism, the god of wisdom is the son of Shiva and Parvati and is represented as a pot-bellied man with an elephant’s head.

Kailasagiri on a hilltop is a must to visit places in Vishakhapatnam. It is one of the prominent hill top parks with beautiful panoramic sea view on the East Coast. This shot of the best attraction of the park Lord Shiva's Parvati's white statue stands majestically against the blue sky. The red flowers at the statue's feet give it a feel of devotees putting flowers at a temple.Green plants and trees add more color to the shot!
