The history of Parque Lage begins in 1811, when Rodrigo de Freitas Mello e Castro acquires a farm belonging to Fagundes Varela, the Engenho de Açúcar Del Rei, on the banks of the lagoon. John Tyndale, an English landscape artist, received in 1840 an assignment to redesign a farm and a project for the whole project of romanticism found in parks in his homeland.

El parque natural de Aizkorri-Aratz, situado entre las provincias de Álava y Gipuzkoa, destaca por sus sierras calizas e interminables hayedos. Cuenta con la cima más alta de Euskadi, el Aitxuri (1.551 m) y dice la leyenda que entre sus cumbres puede aún encontrarse a la diosa mitológica Mari.
La entrada principal del parque está situada junto al espectacular Santuario de Arantzazu, colgado en un pronunciado barranco, es visita obligada por su interés arquitectónico y artístico. El parque de Aizkorri Aratz alberga tesoros como el Túnel de San Adrián,,,,,,,,, The natural park of Aizkorri-Aratz, located between the provinces of Álava and Gipuzkoa, stands out for its limestone mountains and endless beech forests. From Ruta 40 and then 76 a dirt road leads to the National Park "Talampaya". The park is in a basin between the Cerro Los Colorados to the west and the Sierra de Sañagasta to the east. The landscape is the result of erosion by water and wind in a desert climate, with large ranges in temperature - high heat by day and low temperature at night, with torrential rain in summer and strong wind in spring.
Features are: The dry bed of the Talampaya River, where dinosaurs lived millions of years ago; the "Talampaya gorge" and its rock formations with walls up to 143 metres high; the remains of indigenous peoples' settlements; regional fauna, including guanacos, hares, maras, foxes and condors.
