The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth.

As we came up and out of the Paradox Valley in Western Colorado, the snow fall got heavier and heavier. Not the greatest shot but one I wanted nonetheless.

It's the end of the world as we know it

It's the end of the world as we know it

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine

shot in Berlin on a rainy night with Leica M10 and Summilux 50mm in Mitte

I feel like I am a ghost

Drifting about in my own memories

Why is it that easy

To wander about in the past

Why is it that each recollection

Has become as painful

As an embedded shard of glass

It now seems routine

That I revisit old haunts

I used to know

Closer than my own heart

I have become a paradox of scars

That l live with each day

It is not only blood

That runs in my veins

But a river of loss

This image is from a series of photographs that I took at Alfriston Church in Sussex, UK, on a cold, windy day in October. I have mentioned before that I felt an unease at this place, and I think the images are a reflection of that. I wondered if anything or anybody could truly be at rest here, as this feeling came from some disturbance older than the church, embedded in the landscape, it seemed to me.

The weather added to my unsettled feeling, the wind swirling around the church, which is positioned on older sacred ground. The landscape seemed to attract as well as repel.

I have chosen to pair this image with Mozart: Requiem in D Minor, K. 626 - I. Introitus. Requiem aeternam. Please click on the link below for an immersive experience.

Next year's headache in the making....this seed head had already managed to send off most of it's tiny parasols of seed before the lazy gardener, (guess who), could get to it...this year's beauty will be next year's headache...

I went with my friend Raphaël to do a photo session in the different installations at the Arsenal museum in August 2020.

Cultural theorist Stuart Hall’s influential essay « Endoding and Docoding in the Television discourse » is animated as a stream of letters that from time to time assemble to form each sentence of the text. The directions of the text follows the position of the visitor in the room.

She is a paradox, a puzzle...

She is faithful and yet detached, she is committed and yet relaxed...

She loves everybody and yet no one, she is sociable and yet solitary...

She is gentle and yet tough, she is passionate and yet platonic...

In short, she is predictable in her inpredictability...

After working from home again today (luckily I am able to do that with my occupation), took a walk outside near my home where there is an osprey nest nearby. Lots of action near the nest today and fun to be there and get some lens time snapping away. A nice break from the nearly constant coordination and on-line meetings that filled the day.

The work I do is considered essential ... but I am still able to do nearly all of it without having to be in the office. So staying home as much as possible and only venturing out as needed to address items at project sites. The coordination between staff on our design projects is actually more time consuming when not able to discuss in person as a Team, but we are getting used to the on-line collaboration and coordination. The days actually seem shorter time wise ... but also longer as the coordination seems to almost never end considering the need to stay in touch. Bit of a paradox actually.

Stay safe everyone.

Mrs. Krach is also back to doing some on-line teaching with her students, and in her spare time continues to make medical masks for the local hospitals. She has made over 160 masks so far in the past week. More of the local hospitals as asking for more.

The surface of this lens, part of my everyday glasses, is clearly imperfect. Just like the rest of me. The paradox is that I can see what is not imperfect. In fact, I believe I can "see" what is infinite, perfect, eternal. Sometimes, I feel visually hit by the truth. How can the imperfect perceive what is perfect? Description of a fact that contradicts common opinion or daily experience, in a logical-linguistic sense, indicates both a reasoning that appears invalid, but which must be accepted, and a reasoning that appears correct, but which leads to a contradiction.
