La tradizione narra che qui, nel 452 d.C., avvenne l’incontro tra Attila Re degli Unni e Papa Leone Magno, giunto da Roma per arrestarne le devastanti scorrerie.
Questo importante avvenimento storico ha “gemellato” Salionze a Bernalda comune del Metapontino, in provincia di Matera, che ha proprio in San Leone Magno il suo patrono. Ogni anno, a metà Luglio, durante la “Sagra di Salionze”, una rappresentazione in costume rievoca l’evento.

I was wrong about not having photographed anything with sky in it whilst in Scotland - I took this and had completely forgotten about it.
This is the Pap of Glencoe and Loch Leven, seen from the north bank of the loch, a couple of miles out of Kinlochleven. Not the most exciting of shots, I'll agree, but since it's the only actual mountain and sky I captured, I thought I'd post it anyway... I liked the rich green on the bump in the mid-ground, beneath the Pap, and the curves of water and light on the kelp leading to it.
We walked a few of the paths around Braemore but a combination of me still not being at full fitness after a recent illness and finding that the aspect on Morven tended to become less inspiring as we drew closer, meant we didn't walk as far as intended/expected. We found this view not far from the estate lodge which not only gave an impressive view of 'the Pap' but also captured some great drama in the sky above it just after some rainfall.
Avant d'être affectés au musée, les bâtiments étaient une maison de l'ordre des Ermites de saint Augustin. Dans son emplacement actuel, à l'intérieur des murs de la cité, le couvent des Augustins de Toulouse fut construit à partir de 1310 après l'autorisation du pape Clément V donnée par un rescrit daté du 28 janvier 1310.
Le couvent des Augustins devient bien national par décret le 2 novembre 1789. Il est désaffecté puis démembré en 1790 lors de la suppression des ordres monastiques. Il fut transformé en musée après la suppression des ordres religieux à la Révolution française.
La saisie des œuvres les plus utiles pour la création d'un « Muséum du Midi de la République » est décidée par le Conseil du département de Haute-Garonne le 12 décembre 1793. Il s'installe aux Augustins et ouvre solennellement ses portes le 27 août 1795, ce qui en fait l'un des plus anciens musées de France, très peu de temps après le Louvre.
Fermé à partir du 31 mai 2019 pour réfection des verrières, le musée devait rouvrir début 2020 mais les travaux sont prolongés jusqu'à début 2025.
