Early summer morning in 'Big Meadow'.
Backing at Bremo...Buckingham Branch's Dillwyn crew backs onto the CSX James River line at Bremo. They will shove back two miles to the interchange yard at Strathmore. The conductor is riding this move in an extended vision caboose on the rear of the train. Fifteen cars of woodchips from the chipper near Dillwyn make up most of the train. CSX will forward the chips to a huge papermill at Covington, Virginia.

Abandoned since 2013, unfortunately the two paper machines have been dismantled, but there can still be found some interesting places in the factory. This is the place where the paper machine one stood.

The Veluwe paper mill is a water-powered paper mill from 1654, rebuilt in 1933 in the Dutch Open Air Museum in Arnhem.
De Veluwse papiermolen is een door water aangedreven papier-molen uit 1654. Oorspronkelijk stond de molen in Loenen op de Veluwe. In 1933 is het door de Vereeniging van Nederlandsche Papierfabrikanten geschonken aan het Nederlands Openlucht-museum te Arnhem, en daar herbouwd.
Het waterrad heeft een diameter van 1,90 m en een breedte van 0,65 m. De molen is nog regelmatig in bedrijf.
De molen is ook bekend als de Achterste Molen en Marten Orges.

Delightful place right on the Bystrzyca Dusznicka river. As you can see beautiful blue skies ,I was so very lucky with the weather :-)

WESTZAAN - The Schoolmaster is the last paper mill in the world that on wind power works. The mill was originally built in 1692 and is still in daily use. There is Zaansch plate, a paper type, manufactured. The owner is since 1976 the Association Zaansche mill. The mill is hexagonal, a rarity, only seven other mills in Netherlands also have a hex socket construction.
WESTZAAN - De Schoolmeester is de laatste papiermolen ter wereld die op windkracht functioneert. De molen werd oorspronkelijk in 1692 gebouwd en is tegenwoordig nog dagelijks in gebruik. Er wordt op ambachtelijke wijze Zaansch Bord, een papiersoort, vervaardigd. De eigenaar is sinds 1976 de Vereniging De Zaansche Molen. De molen is als zeskant opgetrokken, een zeldzaamheid, slechts zeven andere molens in Nederland hebben ook een zeskante constructie.

... This photograph is from an earlier point of the hike while still on dry land. Alternatively, you can see it on the way back. I opted for both and stopped on the way down and back up. Based on weather and time of the day, the light you get may very dramatically with couple hours passing in between. On the way down, sun was still high up and was blasting the area with high contrast light and light spots so bright that a pleasing exposure was hard to get. On the other hand, as evening settled in and the sun disappeared over the high cliffs surrounding the gorge, light became more tamed, yet still directional. That was my choice.
Now here is one thing I rarely do but have been trying to ...
