Ndutu Lake in the southeastern Serengeti, Tanzania
There were no flamingos in Lake Manyara National Park because of flooding and high water levels. These are bad conditions for the growth of the algae on which they feed.
And on the day trip to Arusha National Park at the start of the trip it was impossible to reach the Momella Lakes after a heavy thunder storm so we did not see the flamingos there.
Obviously we were happy to find many flamingos when reaching the southeastern sector of the Serengeti.
The Lesser Flamingo is the smallest of all flamingo species and lives in Africa south of the Sahara and in northwestern India.
It can be found in alkaline lakes, salt pans and estuaries where it filters blue-green algae from water. Besides foraging in shallow water it also feeds while swimming in deep water

Java Oriental, Indonesia
Thanks to all of you for your faves and comments!!

I posted two other shots over a year ago where i panned with the red doors at Target as the backdrop. I wanted to do it again, i exposed for the background here. The iso and noise are high, forgot to remove the ND filter. DAH. Have a good day.

Salt pans are a common sight in this region, since Tavira is so intertwined with the history of salt. The ancient technology adapted to the landscape of the Ria Formosa turns the salt pans into outdoors chemistry labs. These are an important and humanized environment for several species of birds and microscopic beings. For all these reasons we challenge you to integrate this visit. We guarantee you that you will not look at a crystal of salt the same way.

It is worth enlarging the photo as much as possible, to observe the extraordinary beauty of this Patagonian glacier. On the right of the photograph, composed of the union of twenty-four shots, with exposure locked, the motor vessel, for a quick comparison of the dimensions ....
The front reaches a height of over one hundred metres, is one and a half kilometres wide and is over twenty-five kilometres long.

At f16 difraction is really kicking in and ruining sharpness for the small Nikon 1 system. However it was the only way to get a shutter speed slow enough for some panning.
ST PORU and OCS power lays over in front of the Rigby yard office on a Sunday afternoon in the last month of Pan Am operations. A week and a half later, CSX officially assumed control of Pan Am Railways becoming the latest successor to the Boston and Maine and Maine Central. Another chapter of New England railroading had finally come to a close.
Continuing on this heavy and back breaking task of making salt for human consumption from salt water. Traversing through the narrow raised bunds to take away the raw salt to an outdoor storage for it to dry out.
Goa is more known for its beaches, tanned flesh, food and carnevale then for its salt. Here right next to Panjim, salt making goes on in the summer months. I guess since no tourists arrive here during that period, no one even mentions the existence of these historic mines which work on the principle of solar evaporation of the saline water that reaches up the Mandovi in the summer.
In Goa, during the months of summer, nothing moves, not even the breeze, it is hot and sultry and almost impossible to think. The famous beaches are not happening as the water is so murky and full of churning that the currents are vicious.
The only activity that seems to occur during this hottest part of the year in Goa is the making of Salt and living life and dreaming of the monsoon to break and bring in the rains.
The not so solitary workers here are from the tribal belt near Karwar in Karnataka who seem to be engaged in this hard back breaking work with a major touch of corrosive impact on the delicate skin from the chlorine.

Horno de pan. Veneguera.
