This is much larger than normal Dragonflies,

I had to go inside and get my zoom lens and get some details,

Even though it was overcast and dark it came out okay.

In de zomer van 2022 werd de vakantie samen met de vrouw en dochter doorgebracht in Tsjechië. Uiteraard vond ik het niet heel erg dat de dames wederom voor Tsjechië kozen, want mijn bucketlist qua treinen in dit fraaie land is nog best wel lang ;-). De eerste twee weken zaten we in de buurt van Nymburk en de derde week nabij Uherské Hradiště.

In de buurt van Uherské Hradiště is nog aardig wat inzet van Duikbrillen van de serie 754. Met een beetje geluk zitten er ook een aantal leuke kleurvarianten in de omloop. In de laatste week van onze vakantie kon ik vier fraaie kleurvarianten scoren en daarnaast nog een loc in de Najbrt2-kleurstelling. Daar was ik zeer tevreden mee. Qua zon was het die week ook lekker en kon er op verschillende stekken worden genoten van deze fraaie diesellocomotieven.

De 754 worden ingezet tussen in de sneltreindienst (Rychlíky) tussen Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště en Luhačovice en in de snelle stoptreindienst (Spěšné vlaky) tussen Brno en Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště. Op dinsdagochtend 2 augustus zag ik dat de fraaie 754 013-1 achterop in een trein vanuit Brno werd meegenomen en waarschijnlijk weer onderdeel zou worden van de 754-omloop. Dit bleek ook zo te zijn en zodoende werd het plan gemaakt om de fraaie locomotief op woensdag 3 augustus de 's ochtends op twee stekken te fotograferen.

Woensdagochtend werd al vroeg de fraaie stek bij Polichno opgezocht. Daar was het nog een uitdaging om de auto te parkeren. Aan de hoofdweg is nergens een parkeerplaats. Daarom werd voorzichting de spoorwegovergang overgestoken richting het onverharde pad aan de andere kant van het spoor en de auto gekeerd met de neus richting het zuiden. Mocht er toch een auto richting het onverharde pad komen, dan had ik nog de mogelijkheid om snel uit te wijken naar een doodlopend uiteinde van het pad. Het bleef gelukkig rustig ;-). Keurig op tijd hoorde ik de trein aankomen. Het was uiteraard nog even spannend of de omloop zou kloppen. In het schema stond namelijk nog steeds een blauw uitroepteken. Dit betekent dat de omloop een inschatting is en nog niet definitief. Toen ik de fraaie neus van de locomotief de bocht om zag komen, was ik helemaal blij.

Op de foto zien we de Čd 754 013-1 met R 881 Olomouc hlavní nádraží-Luhačovice bij Polichno op 3-8-2022.

When I was looking at the water trapped on these lily water pads I was thinking of how it reminded me of the Arts And Crafts era and the jewelry that that was made by artisans of that time . Nature was a main theme of that era when they made pins , broches etc..Not only that they used nature as main theme in pottery , sculptures and other things. Such as lamp bases .I cant help but think they saw lily pads like this that inspired them to create .Arts and Crafts movement

Lily pads and autumn colors at the lake. Lake Leatherwood, Arkansas.

CSXT 4720 painted for "ONE CSX" sits on "the pad" at Clinton, IA for a crew to come on-duty on their rest while the westbound Bird pulls in for a quick crew change.

This empty ethanol off the CSX caused a lot of confusion on the internets with most people assuming it would take the CPKC at Bensenville. The train is billed to the ethanol plant in Hartley, IA which is served by the CPKC. However, an old trackage rights agreenment going back to the MILW and RI days allows the UP to serve the same plant using the CPKC trackage between Emmetsburg and Hartley.

I find these little gems to be so pleasing to the eye. Found this one at Wyandotte County Lake several weeks ago and just had to get a birds eye view of it. I darkened the edges to put the focus on what it must look like to the several dragon flies floating around them waiting for the “all clear”.

These are the amazing leaves of the water lily , Victoria amazonica ...some were a metre across. Taken in the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical garden , Pamplemousses , Mauritius, So many pads there ,that If one were light enough it would be possible to walk across the lake !!
