Bindi got this bittersweet job this year.
And I will have to start on this task myself soon as the decorations will have to be away by Twelfth Night.
This one's for Russ Barnes (www.russbarnes.co.uk)
I was lucky enough to be shooting with him a couple of weekends ago (on an excellent Greg Whitton workshop). We were climbing Moelwyn Mawr in Snowdonia, Wales, watching some incredible weather moving across the landscape. I'd started packing up my gear up at this point, eager to climb further but Russ (the wily fox) had seen this cloud developing and waited... and waited.. and waited just a bit more, until we got this shot. Respect, Russ - great lesson!
Y Garn is the hill in the middle distance, with the long ridge of Cadair Idris behind (about 20 miles away).

Part of the pretty and refurbished Hoonah Packing Company in Icey Strait Point in Alaska. Now home to a cannery artifacts/heritage museum, cute gift shops, and a couple of restaurants. There's also a fabulous brew pub, Icey Strait Brewing, just towards the harbour - tasty beers and fabulous views.
Ice fishermen calling it a day as the sun sets on another. Thanks for your visit and may your day be bright!

Converting this image to B&W reveals the structure of this stunning storm cloud and emphasises the power it possesses. Some cumulonumbus clouds have the equivalent of several thermo nuclear devices!
Glad I was not under it at the time. Love the way some crepuscular rays break through the cloud formation.

This Belding’s ground squirrel was feasting on the available food in preparation for hibernation. This photo was taken a month ago. When I went for a walk near by this weekend there was frost on the low lying plants, and the willows are changing color. It is autumn in the mountains. I’m looking forward to it reaching the valley floor.
Only ten more days until Christmas Day, and Santa has a lot of work to do until then. Hopefully his helpers are getting the cookies baked, shopping and wrapping done, and have stocked their shelves for the Christmas feast. Hummm - shall we have ham, turkey or roast beef this year, wonder the Elves. "I know", one of them shouts . . . "Lets have all three!"
