Pardon the pun but needed a change of pace with my gallery. I know some peeps eat these guys, but I prefer fast food. And if you think because they are supposedly slow trying shooting one with a macro lens. Especially one with a big "S on it's shell ..... you should see the S-car-go.

View from the deck yesterday...awoke to the same today. Ground still too warm for it to stick. Not unusual at all to have October snow, but I become less enthused about it with each passing year.
What an eighty degree plus day looks like at the lake. A change of pace from winter views, but nothing fantastic. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!

Found this little guy on my porch this morning and used the tools I had at my disposal - an ipad for the surface and my cell phone for the light. I love it when my subjects come to me.

A 2-car Northern 'Pacer' unit, 142006, is captured unloading a healthy number of commuting passengers at Northwich station while working a late-afternoon Manchester Piccadilly - Chester service.
The shot was taken almost 4 years to the day before a partial collapse of the canopy section immediately in front of me, which also brought down part of the building brickwork. Thankfully no-one was injured and the building was sensitively restored in the original style. The collapsed section of canopy however never got replaced. In the subsequent Safety Report one of the causes was identified as vegetation growth in and around the building - perhaps not a surprise.

Another Pacer shot from earlier this year taken whilst out chasing 37's. 143610 departs Lisvane & Thornhill station with a Penarth bound service, as the sky is illuminated purple over Cardiff.
I have a few pacing shots of SOO SD60M's, too, and this one from December 2011 is probably the best one. I like the low light of a clear late autumn/early winter evening, and I even got a bit of a self-portrait with the shadow of my trusty Mercury Milan in the lower right. I'm still driving that car today, with over 213,000 miles on it.

As seen from an eastbound auto pacing on U.S. Highway 34 out of Galesburg, Illinois, a speedy Southern Pacific intermodal with Chicago on its radar, sprints through Oneida on Burlington Northern’s Galesburg to Aurora main line on the afternoon of June 2, 1991. Powering the train is a trio of Cotton Belt locomotives, with a pair of EMD GP60s sandwiching a GE B40-8.

Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, sharing a maritime border with Italy. Croatia was part of the former Yugoslavia. A population of 4 million, most of whom are Catholics. Zagreb is the capital. Balanced between the Balkans and Central Europe, this country has been passed between rival kingdoms, empires and republics for thousands of years. If there is an advantage to this ongoing disruption, it is in the rich cultural legacy each has left behind. From Venetian palaces, Napoleonic fortresses, Slavic churches, Viennese mansions to socialist sculptures. But most attraction is the coastline with the remarkable clarity of the water and white pebbly beach. Despite being the fastest rising holiday destination in Europe in the past decade, Croatia still doesn't feel overrun by tourists. There are long sandy and winding beaches too, perfect for lazy days. Croatia is a beautiful country to discover many different landscapes. Dubrovnik is according to many one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic coast. This city in Croatia is also called the Pearl of the Adriatic. The historic center, or rather the completely walled fortress city of Dubrovnik, is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage. This part is still in a remarkably good condition. A wonderful place to discover on foot, it is a city with a diverse, but also rough past. Remarkably, the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, as well as the various monasteries, palaces and fountains have been preserved. They all tell their own story from the Middle Ages.
Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea. The history of the city probably dates back to the 7th century. The city is completely surrounded by defensive walls and fortresses. Franciscan Church and Monastery is situated at the Placa, the main street of Dubrovnik. It's a large complex consists of a monastery, a church, a library and a pharmacy. This church is lovely inside. The library contains over 70,000 books.The earliest monastery was built in the 13th century. The monastery was built in 1360 in late Romanesque style. A beautiful cloister garden hidden away from the busy tourist places in Dubrovnik. Peaceful and silent despite being in the heart of the old city this is a tiny and unexpected oasis of green within historic architecture. Still a sacred place but with a small museum of artefacts and paintings.
