At last, enough water to submerge the rocks around 'The Tree' on Llyn Padarn - my 4th attempt! The shaft of morning sunlight was fleeting, maybe 3 to 4 minutes - but worth getting up for at 4:15am......sleeps overrated.

Sometimes the 5 am starts are worth it. The morning before was raging red, almost too much. I know the couple of tourists were disappointed they didn't get the red we got the morning before. But sometimes its the subtle that seeps into the soul.
Hopefully a little something to put a smile on your face as we begin a new week.

From a particularly windy & rather stormy evening here in local Storkow, the wind was actually vibrating the Tripod as the gusts were so strong, took me 3 or 4 attempts to get as sharp a shot as possible. But I love challenges and by holding the neck of the connecter plate I managed to a get a good enough one. However my Cullman Nanomax 460 is still the best tripod I've used so far as budgets restraints will allow, I did have a Rollei but it fell to bits months after buying it and I even had to ask for missing parts for my remote switch, frankly I think Rollei are overrated.
By the way, advice for all, back up your files and don't do what I did, I put five years worth of material onto one single external hard drive, well, it recently broke and I lost everything, as nothing is recoverable. I delayed and delayed and delayed finding a could server or yet another external hard drive, thinking I had better things to spend money on but alas, it is true, one doesn't know what they have until it's gone, so I invested in recovery software, plus a free trial from another and tried to get back my photos from the SD cards, but even with the one I had now, from 8400 off files only 216 could be saved. Shit!
Oh well, very expensive lesson learnt!

Your are looking at the 1 cm wide screw lock / screw gate of the metallic green aluminium carabiner.
I took this image rather for fun one morning last week (meaning: handheld without tripod, lit with a colour-changing LED light) just to see how the setting would look like ... I kind of liked the somewhat blurry and psychedelic look.

2019 52 Week Theme
1:52 - Focus is overrated
An image from last December while at my good friend Jeanne's house. I miss her so much! She attracted more birds to her little sanctuary than I ever could...and she was light Snow White, they loved her. Out of focus as we were having so much fun talking about birds!

The Flåmbana in Norway is considered as one of the most beautiful railways in the world. I found it a great... tourist trap - boring, overpriced and completely overrated. A rip-off at its best. However, there were some nice spots on the way.

Created for Macro Mondays theme, "Forks."
When I heard that this week's theme was forks, I thought to myself, 'What can I do with a fork that hasn't been done before?" This is what I've come up with and it was a fun shoot.
I've been going with sharply detailed focus lately so I figured it was time to mix things up a bit. I knew this was a job for the Pentacon lens and it didn't disappoint. Focus DoF can be so overrated. :) When I was done with 'the shoot" I wound up with a few images that I liked, a couple have been posted, some fall into the maybe pile and this is the one for the macro group.
The image was created with the 50mm Pentacon f/1.8 with a Nikon PK-13 27.5mm extension tube, one fork, one window screen, one piece of aqua colored paper, some cleaner in a squirt bottle and the morning sun for light. Single image processed in Photoshop. The tangs on the fork measure 0.75 inches so overall it's small.
... i quickly threw myself into the grass to photograph the beautiful kitten. There was no time for my gorilla tripod, completely overrated at such a moment :-)

This was taken at a beautiful roadside viewpoint in Rondan in Norway. Unfortunately my enthusiasm for pressing the shutter button got the better of me and the need to get a sharp image had to take a back seat. I’ve always thought that perfection was overrated anyway, particularly when I’ve messed things up. It was just great to be able to take in such stunning scenery (EM120232)
Probably one of the most photographed, most tourist packed and most overrated locations in Norway, in my opinion.
We were leaving Lofoten when I took this picture. It was a brilliant sunset and I hadn't yet been able to take that "classic" Lofoten picture. When I saw this view here I just stopped and took some pictures, because OF COURSE I need to have something. I think it turned out very well.
My thoughts about Lofoten, well, it's not ideal for travelers who want to sleep in tents. Do yourself a favor and go there with an RV or something like that. Be prepared to not find any parking places, especially in Henningsvær for example. Reine was also full of people and we only found a free parking spot after six in the evening. Other people were parking along the main road but I wasn't brave like them. I already got stuck once on this trip.
I have to say I prefer southern Norway with its majestic fjords and valleys to Lofoten, but Lofoten definitely has a unique look and so, so many bridges.

This beast was fast and it was not very bright in the woods. To get this shot i had to focus manually and use ISO 10.000!!!
So it's not tack sharp, but sharpness is overrated... ;-)
Cleo when she was lying on the guest bed and Tofu tried to join her there. I have to mention, though, that the photo was taken after we had returned home from the vet and she wasn't in the best mood anyway. :)

It was just another day on the African savannah, where the local tortoises were busy making friends. Our adventurous little tortoises (I think torti would be a better name for the collective ;), our adventurous little torti decided that walking and swimming is highly overrated and instead opted for the ultimate VIP transport: the tortoise taxi & hippo ferry service. No doubt, they enjoyed the scenic views and gentle swaying as their obliging friend ferried them across the waterhole. Who needs Uber when you have a hippo?
I know this isn't the greatest photo, but it was another very memorable safari moment in Sabi Sands. I love seeing species interact like this :)
We have strange weather these days. Today we had snow, rain, a hail shower and occasional sunshine. In one of the sunny moments Cleo went out into the garden and for whatever reason she decided to take a mud bath. This is something that doesn't happen very often as Cleo is usually a cat who really makes sure to stay clean.
