Bedford, Virginia...
Like eleven other Virginia communities, Bedford provided a company of soldiers (Company A) to the 29th Infantry Division when the National Guard's 116th Infantry Regiment was activated on 3 February 1941. Some thirty Bedford soldiers were still in that company on D-Day; several more from Bedford were in other D-Day companies, including one who, two years earlier, had been reassigned from the 116th Infantry to the First Infantry Division. Thus he had already landed in both Northern Africa and Sicily before coming ashore on D-Day at Omaha Beach with the Big Red One. Company A of the 116th Infantry assaulted Omaha Beach as part of the First Division's Task Force O.
By day's end, nineteen of the company's Bedford soldiers were dead. Two more Bedford soldiers died later in the Normandy campaign, as did yet another two assigned to other 116th Infantry companies. Bedford's population in 1944 was about 3,200. Proportionally this community suffered the nation's severest D-Day losses. Recognizing Bedford as emblematic of all communities, large and small, whose citizen-soldiers served on D-Day, Congress warranted the establishment of the National D-Day Memorial here.
This holds a special meaning to me because my great uncle was one of the Bedford Boys killed on D-Day. Thank you so much for this photo being explored.
When forests are in the fog during daytime you can take some beautiful shots, especially during autumn :)
The impressive American military cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer houses the remains of 9,387 American soldiers who died in the Battle of Normandy, most notably on 6 June 1944, D-Day. The sacrifices made by the USA for the liberation of Europe are commemorated here. The cemetery overlooks Omaha Beach, the stretch of coastline in Normandy where most of the soldiers lost their lives during Operation Overlord.

Der eindrucksvolle amerikanische Soldatenfriedhof in Colleville-sur-Mer beherbergt die sterblichen Überreste von 9.387 in der Schlacht um die Normandie gefallenen amerikanischen Soldaten, vor allem am 6. Juni 1944, dem D-Day.

Four shot hand held stitch. Tough light. I am going to haul up the tripod earlier in the season sometime when I'm in better physical shape. It's a fairly strenuous (for me) short hike to this viewpoint. Thanks for the "exposure" on Explore.
This is one of many extraordinary views that are waiting for everyone who ventures into Baffin Island’s landscape. The Weasel River Valley with Mount Overlord visible in the distance brings absolutely incredible visual experience. All peaks that surround the valley reach well over 1000 meters. The power of these mountains is almost overwhelming. I can’t even imagine the magnitude of forces that shaped this landscape. Mount Overlord marked the end of our spectacular journey.
I believe that near that mountain we all felt enriched by unforgettable experiences and dreamed that our journey would continue.

Not really a character, but I kinda felt I should put one together, just for future reference. So, this is how the Parademons who accompanied Darkseid to Earth looked like. I went for a more bulky look, kinda like the ones in 'Justice league War', just in darker colours. And I gave them claws, just to bulk them up a bit. Might need to add a stud to each leg, just to make them a bit taller, but apart from that, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. As always, lemme know what you think :D
When after many days of hiking you see Mt. Overlord you know that you are getting closer to the end of the trail. The memories of sweating (and even swearing) during bogs crossings are still coming to your mind, but they are starting to have a taste of a small victory rather than exhaustion. Frequently, you catch yourself smiling when you recall the evenings at campsites when every conversation was starting with a food-related theme and when potato chips tasted like an “au gourmet” dish.
While you can still feel the sandblasting your face and cold biting your fingers you recall with satisfaction all these busy nights spent looking for compositions and taking photos. They provided you with breathtaking views seen during the trek and photos to remember them by. To me, the combination of these elements constitutes an amazing adventure.

If I learned anything last weekend, it was that winter is coming. Much colder than I was ready for. The first night we slept on a foot of snow in a tent. The second night was in a freezing hut.
After discovering the Whistler Gondola was shut down for the season we started up Singing Pass trail at noon. After finally breaking out of the trees I started to posthole through the deepening snow and we made camp just before dark. Despite the surprising amount of snow I slept really well. Next morning the surface was crusty and much easier to walk on. Up and over Cowboy Ridge (where this photo was taken). Then down to the BCMC cabin at Russet Lake. The temperature dropped some more and it was hard to keep warm during the night. Thankfully we brought a stove for warm drinks and food. The trail out was much icier but only took about 4 hours to get down to the Village. The plan next time is to go up the 3 mountains above us - Overlord, Fissile & Whirlwind.
Edit: If I learned anything today, it was that my Packers are legit Super Bowl contenders again. Note the new toque I'm rocking. :)

Through the creations that I build, I hope to inspire other young (or perhaps older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity. We all need a positive way to express ourselves, so let's allow LEGO to be an extension of us. Your creativity belongs to you, and nobody can take that away. Build what you want to build, and how you want to build it. Creativity Never Ends!
Dancontrino from Joedios came up with this idea, I just borrowed it. :)
Now I've reworked most of Cobra's high command duds - Big Boa, Crystal Ball, Overlord and Dr Mindbender. Raptor will require a lot more thought! :D

Ukrainian churches are on crusade for quite some time now, trying to worm their way in, basically, everything.
Sometimes this attitude is easy to see even in how they lay their stone.
