This is part of the Nevada Salt Flats, between Reno an Winnemucca. For me the two flat bottom clouds sealed the deal on this shot.
Breathtaking Arches National Park, Photoshop's new enlarge feature allows me to work with images taken long ago in my early digital days and with a much smaller camera. They were decent quality for their time, but "raw" was just getting started and jpg was the norm. This new feature allows you to enlarge even jpgs and keep solid resolution.
Another addition to my Out West series and another take on the the sunflower field shot that I used with the Prairie Dog. As seen headed up Rt 85 maybe around Ludlow, SD.

When I look back at the photos from a recent trip out west, I keeping finding more that I want to include! Bear with me....
For nearly 5,000 years, people have lived in these canyons - longer than anyone has lived uninterrupted anywhere on the Colorado Plateau. In the place called Tsegi, their homes and images tell us their stories. Today, Dine' families make their homes, raise livestock, and farm the lands in the canyons. A place like no other, the park and Navajo Nation work together to manage the land's resources

“Let this great wonder of nature remain as it now is. You cannot improve on it. But what you can do is keep it for your children, your children’s children, and all who come after you, as the one great sight which every American should see.” Teddy Roosevelt on the Grand Canyon in 1908.

Got a really cool shot of my girlfriend taking a picture with a really cool sunset background at Artist’s Palette in Death Valley
This image was taken after the sun set. You can see the car lights turned on. Thoughts on whether I should lighten the shadows? I am afraid it might alter the time of day too much.

Mitten Ridge is a long band of weathered, jagged red rock formations forming the north walll of Bear Wallow Canyon. The terra cotta sandstone cliffs are sculpted into fantastic shapes with columns, caves, overhangs, and buttes.

Photographing wildlife has always brought me such great pleasure. To experience and record those brief glimpses into the world of wild things feels like such a gift to me. And to make eye contact, in that powerful moment though nano seconds it might be, you cross over and become part of their world, registering in the life of a bird, a deer, a bison, or a fox. No hyperbole, no rhetoric, no promises, no subterfuge. Looking into the eye of a wild thing, one sees only truth.
In Yellowstone National Park there are many wild things. I knew I would not see all of them, but I hoped to see a few. I was not disappointed. I hope you enjoy the photographic documentation of the incredible animals and landscapes we came across in this unique and wondrous environment over the course of a week with our fabulous guides, Steve and Nicole, of Steve Gettle Nature Photography.

Another one from deep in the archives, wanted to keep this dark and more natural looking-have posted a few from this session - pretty much my last one hopefully :-) Havent had a chance to get out with the camera much lately so hopefully this weekend?
Used GND Filter and Blend from 3 shots (not HDR) -2 EV for the sky, combo of 0 and +2 EV for water and +2 for a touch of rock detail. Time to get some decent flters and I reckon!!!
