Today's outreach was reading Sandra Markle's "Praying Mantises." The insect has many local names, which were explored and discussed. Other insects were also in the book, such as ladybugs and dragonflies, which are very common in Zambia. The kids loved looking at different insects, though the ladybugs have no local name. Wangira's book about planting trees in Kenya was also read, and some teens were spoken to about the mentoring program at the library.
