This near monoculture of cacti might be beautiful in bloom. But in mid summer it seemed to be warning: "Don't tread on me!" I will return in spring when it is more welcoming.

comments and constructive criticism always welcome.

Have you ever had a parrot bite you on the nose? Well, neither have I, but I bet it hurts.

"Mama! Mama! Can you find me? Johnny and I are playing hide and seek in the roses!"

"Oh dear me! You DO know that roses have thorns, Kate! Maybe not a great place to hide! Tell me you and Johnny did not climb into those?!"

"Oops. Too late."

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday!

I try to keep my neck flexible with a little daily movement to its limits, but this is stretching the friendship!

Happy Feathery Friday!

(Forgive the lack of anything new in recent days - suffering a few MS related health issues and they are keeping me off the streets. I will be hitting the archives for a little while. Hopefully normal service will resume soon!)

"The photo is the hunt. It’s the instinct of hunting without the desire to kill. It’s the hunt of angels… you track, you aim, you fire and-click! Instead of a dead man, you make him eternal." - Chris Marker

“ "Sport" hunting is a sickness, a perversion and a danger and should be recognised as such.

People who get their 'amusement' from hunting and killing defenceless animals can only be suffering from a mental disorder.

In a world with boundless opportunities for amusement, it's detestable that anyone would choose to get thrills from killing others who ask for nothing from life but the chance to remain alive. ” Sir Roger Moore

One of our smallest of damselflies, found mainly on and around boggy ground, acidic ponds and heaths.

It’s Christmas day and the scrappers working in Wisconsin Central’s Shops Yard locomotive facility at North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, are home with their families enjoying the holiday. In the foreground, torched hoods sit on the ground, and the prime movers, generators and other engineroom components already gone from the locomotives. The job isn’t done yet, but the fate of these three former Soo Line GP30s is sealed as WC Nos. 709, 717 and 718 are not much more than scrap metal on December 25, 1994.

do not worry brothers, more they cut of us, more co2 they will produce, less oxygen they'll have to breath so eventually we will win :)

Blue Tits are notorious for this. I think they must top the list for savagery per gram. On a cold frosty morning this isn't funny. The bird was being ringed under licence as part of a long-term monitoring project

For some reason the Northern Cardinals love the overgrown holly tree in our backyard-and let me tell you the ends of the leaves have spikes on them! Didn't seem to bother him though!

I thought about not posting my interior shots at all because it was dark and I had very little time to even focus my camera. Also our guide emphatically locked the doors one after another as we left! Still, even with the noise and blur, the rooms have a wonderful ambiance and I love them and there is the ancient connection of Rožmberk Castle to our family. So! Take the tour if you like with my apologies!

These signs were around Harlech Castle!!!

Harlech Castle in Harlech, Gwynedd, Wales, is a Grade I listed medieval fortification built onto a rocky knoll close to the Irish Sea. It was built by Edward I during his invasion of Wales between 1282 and 1289 at the relatively modest cost of £8,190.

Created from a vacation photo I took in 2007. Camera quality was all of 6 megapixels, so there are some trade-offs.

Thank you for looking. As always, it is a pleasure sharing images with you.
