Photographed at British Wildlife Centre

(Lutra lutra) Other than the eagles and the puffins the one other animal I wanted to see on Mull were the otters. They are quite elusive despite there being many of them and they are hard to get close to. We were very lucky to spot this mum and pup out fishing in the loch and we were delighted when she caught a crab and decided to come ashore right in front of us to eat it! The pup wasn't getting a look in though!

I am so addicted to these stunning animals!! They are such a joy to spend time with and photograph.

Quality 'me' time spent at British Wildlife Centre. I cannot recommend it enough for your mental health and wellbeing.

Imagine 4 otter pups running all over the place with photographers following them. Quite a crazy time. They are so fast in the water and on land. Here they are on the boardwalk or trying to squeeze in.

Thanks so much for the visit!

Smooth-coated Otter

Mother flanked by her two cubs. Although the cubs are almost full grown mum was definitely in charge here - any hint of danger and she would call her cubs back to her side and they instantly obeyed.

Appalling light, but one of those special wildlife moments that money simply cannot buy

Two tiny otter cubs on the riverbank - mum (out of shot) was never far away and keeping a watchful eye on her precious youngsters

Many, many thanks to Kevin Loader for letting me know about these special little guys

Our latest star attraction.

Having seen at a distance a lone otter and then a mum and cub at our local jetty we were very pleased with our sightings.

Little did we know what was going to happen when we went into the local town.

This young dog otter was kind enough to provide us with over two hours of entertainment on consecutive days.

This shot has not been cropped as the otter came so close to me. I was actually concerned he would get onto the nearby road, but fortunately he turned round.

Whilst I still have several hundred pics of Ollie and Scar to publish, I have a suspicion this as yet unnamed young man will dominate my feed for sometime.

Otter at Santon Warren, Norfolk.

Down at the local harbor is the resident Otter family. There are a few more otters in the bottom of the skiff.

Another from my evening with the Otter, this time it had just caught a fish and was shaking it about, hence the water spray.

Some nice views of the Otter in the river Clyde. he was catching eels

Otters at the Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary in Buckfastleigh, South Devon. Quite a hot day when we visited and this pair really gave us a great show of how to swim underwater with ease!

The sanctuary rescues otters from the nearby River Dart and the coast, they do a brilliant job of getting these lovely creatures fit and well again.

50. Super Furry Animals - theme for 116 pictures in 2016

I took so many pictures of the river otters on the one day I had the privilege of sitting and watching them. This image is one that I keep going back to... this little otter that had been playing with it's siblings, climbed up on this tiny bit of beach, plopped down and took a quick cat nap...or maybe better called 'otter nap'!

Thank you for your endless inspirations, comments and visits...have a wonderful weekend!
