Back to my favourite photography subjects!! Animals in action and the exuberant Bane! He gave me so much joy on this photography day!!
(Lutra lutra) Other than the eagles and the puffins the one other animal I wanted to see on Mull were the otters. They are quite elusive despite there being many of them and they are hard to get close to. We were very lucky to spot this mum and pup out fishing in the loch and we were delighted when she caught a crab and decided to come ashore right in front of us to eat it! The pup wasn't getting a look in though!
We spotted this otter early one morning during our last trip to the Isle of Mull in October.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.

Otters at the Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary in Buckfastleigh, South Devon. Quite a hot day when we visited and this pair really gave us a great show of how to swim underwater with ease!
The sanctuary rescues otters from the nearby River Dart and the coast, they do a brilliant job of getting these lovely creatures fit and well again.

At Dunsapie Loch, Holyrood park, Edinburgh. This young Otter has been entertaining passersby for several weeks.
Yesterday morning, just a few minutes after sunrise. I've only seen otters in cold weather before, so was taken by surprise.
A River Otter pops up through his fishing hole in the ice and gave me a bark. With their fur wet and icy it has that greasy look but when dry it has true furry look. Arf!
Taken on the Isle of Mull.
The result of waiting and watching and previously paying a professional photographer on the correct way to watch and photograph them. The otter was not disturbed in any way whatsoever. I was laying in wait hoping that it would catch something large enough for it to come ashore. My dreams were answered when I believe it caught this Scorpion Fish. Open to be corrected on that. An experience I will never forget and look forward to my next encounter.
High ISO due to horrendous weather conditions.
Many thanks for all your comments and faves. Much appreciated.
