Carrbridge's most famous landmark is the old packhorse bridge, from which the village is named. The bridge, built in 1717, is the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands.
According to one tradition, the Callanish Stones were petrified giants who would not convert to Christianity.

It was the second time we tried to catch some Perseids...
Well, at least we brought home some brilliant moon-lit shots of the wonderful ruins!

So just that you know: This little ice cube was about a meter in length, and part of a way bigger floe sitting on the beach and waiting for the sun melting it down slowly - and for photographers like us of course!

We set out to try and find some picturesque ruins as our back drop for the Perseids meteor shower - which we did: Waverley Abbey didn't let us down in terms of its serenity and ruinedness - but then we did not manage to catch any of the meteors on "film", and to make it worse it started to overcloud quite rapidly...
Maybe we're a bit more lucky next time...

Last night we witnessed one of the most beautiful thunderstorms we've ever seen. It started with some distant lightning in pink (!), and when it approached our location, clouds were forming around the mountain tops like claws gripping hold of the earth...

The Iron Bridge is a bridge that crosses the River Severn in Shropshire, England. Opened in 1781, it was the first arch bridge in the world to be made of cast iron, and was greatly celebrated after construction owing to its use of the new material.
In 1934 it was designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument and closed to vehicular traffic. Tolls for pedestrians were collected until 1950, when ownership of the bridge was transferred to Shropshire County Council. The bridge, the adjacent settlement of Ironbridge and the Ironbridge Gorge form the UNESCO Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. The bridge is a Grade I listed building, and a waypoint on the South Telford Heritage Trail.
