Ornaments on Palacio Real, with a lampost on Plaza de Armas, the main courtyard of the royal palace

A Study of my friend Greg's Christmas Ornament's... He has a wonderful looking tree with great vintage ornaments collected over the years.

NOTE: This photo made it into Flickr's 'Explore" as one of the top five hundred most interesting photos on a particular day. You can see all of my photo's that have made it into the Flickr Explore pages here.

The gable stone of the original entrace to the Begijnhof in Amsterdam. It shows St. Ursula, the patron saint of beguines, who is shielding the women from the troubles of the world.

Beguines were women living in small closed communities (beguinages) under self-imposed strict rules, in particular chastity, but without taking monastic vows. Popular in the middle ages, the beguine movement has generally declined a long time ago, but some communities persisted well into the XXth century. In Amsterdam, the last beguine died in early 1970ies. Today, houses in the Begijnhof are private dwellings, but still restricted to single women.

Little cat ornament on my window ledge.

What a treat it was to be able to take a ride on the recent tourist ship into space and being able to take along the Sigma lens as well for some space landscapes :)

BTW ... no Photoshop was done here, a single exposure. More to follow on how this was captured for real ... I have others to take.

Captured on my sister's tree for Looking close... on Friday theme: Christmas Baubles

When Christmas Day will come to Melbourne, its summer colours seemed all wrong to me.

The only illusion of snow outdoor is in the pure white of a few streaks of cloud. So, we appreciate this ornament winter scene

While we have some very lovely and costly ornaments for our tree, this one always makes me smile! He cycles thru color changes from red -> green -> blue.

I was wandering the back roads of the Fraser Valley when I came upon some old cars. They sat by the roadside, rusting away a little more each day. I’m definitely not a “car guy” but regardless I decided to stop and see if there was a photograph here. My initial reaction was that they were just some old junkers. The name plate was long gone so I’m not sure make of car used this hood ornament. Regardless I like the futuristic look.

My terrific SIL had one of my favorite silhouette pictures of our beloved black cat made into an ornament. It also has a small magnet so it’s now on my fridge!

Beautiful Flamingo enjoying the sunshine.

There were 2 Flamingos at the park, and they will soon be adding quite a few more. I loved their light eyes and pink feet :) They multi-tone pink feathers were really striking.

She looked just like a lawn ornament standing there............l
