“Farewell Thorin Oakenshield! And Fili and Kili! May your Memory never fade!”

This was a tricky one, because I couldn’t decide which one to build: Bilbo’s last conversation with Thorin or this one. In the end, the funeral vignette won, since the other one would’ve taken place in a tent and I didn’t want to build another one.

This vignette’s design is a very loose interpretation of the movie set for several reasons. I wanted to add a little bit of interesting texture to the sarcophagus, so it didn’t look like a simple LEGO block. And then I used a wrong sword (a non-LEGO item and I don’t even know where I got it from). Thanks to Jonas, who brought this to my attention when he visited me, I was able to correct the error.

“The Great Goblin gave a truly awful howl of rage when he looked at it, and all his soldiers gnashed their teeth, clashed their shields, and stamped. They knew the sword at once.”

Those pesky little goblins used even more string in this vignette, just to MOCk me, I’m sure. Shame on them!

I really didn’t want to use the official LEGO Great Goblin and I also didn’t want to build him, like I did with the trolls. I never imagined him being that huge, like he was shown in the movie. Maybe, the Great Goblin’s legs are a bit too long in my version, but I’m still happy with this ‘toned down’ leader.

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU FAVOURITE AND SUGGEST WHO ELSE CAN I DO

I've watched BOTFA for the second times and I realized that it wasn't so bad.

Here are some minifigures of the film:

-Bilbo: changed the body with Bard's coat (because it has the mithril armor)

-Alfred: I don't like this character because I think is just the bad version of Grima. I used his body and draw the beard on Kylo's face.

-Bolg : my favourite! I used my old version and added some color and details inspired by the videogame

-Thorin (battle armor): nothing much to say, just want to use Orcrist :P

-Kili: I used my technique for arrow and added a casual body. I think it works ("I went to see the Mountain but then I took an arrow in the knee").

Who is your favourite? Do you like them? Who else can I do?

This image is based upon this scene from The Desolation of Smaug.

This is another commissioned photo for Forrestfire101. More photos will be posted soon.

I think this shot turned out okay, but I'm pleased with the way that Orcrist looks (It was accomplished by modifying one of these in PS).

Hope you enjoy!

This knife and sheath I purchased from Knife Works in Gatlinburg is based off of the sword Orcrist from The Hobbit. The runes say “Orcrist: Tooth of Snake”

My current assortment of lifesize, LEGO weapons inspired by 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit.'

The weapons, from left to right, are as follows: Gimli's walking axe, Glamdring (Gandalf's sword), and Sting (Bilbo and Frodo's sword).

Stay tuned for Orcrist!

SD size Lorien bow and EID size Orcrist from "The Hobbit" saga, made on commission.

Orcrist... you like it??

"He is a liar, O truly tremendous one!" said one of the drivers. "Several of our people were struck by lightning in the cave, when we invited these creatures to come below; and they are as dead as stones. Also he has not explained this!" He held out the sword which Thorin had worn, the sword which came from the troll's lair. The Great Goblin gave a truly awful howl of rage when he looked at it, and all his soldiers gnashed their teeth, clashed their shields and stamped. They knew the sword at once. It had killed hundreds of goblins in it's time, when the fair elves of Gondolin hunted them in the hills or did battle before their walls. They had called it Orcrist, Goblin-cleaver, but the goblins simply called it Biter. They hated it and hated worse anyone who carried it."

After seeing Cole Edmenson's incredible Lord of the Rings sword replicas, I had to build one of my own as well. I planned on doing Elendil's sword Narsil, but Narsil looks like Cole's Glamdring in many ways, and I didn't want to take all of his ideas. While thinking of other famous LOTR swords, I realized that Orcrist would be a fun and challenging build. Perhaps the hardest part of the build was the end of the hilt, with it's bends and curves. I finally settled on the hilt you see above. It isn't perfect, but it looks pretty good. Another thing I wanted to incorporate into the build was strength and swooshability. If any of you have seen my Katanas I posted a few months ago, you may have gathered that it didn't look to strong. and let me tell you, they were not at all. I used four stud wide plates in the katanas, so they were not very swooshable. The only way I could hold them was straight in the air, and if I tilted it only a small inch, the entire blade would snap. For this build, I used bricks instead of plates, and used a long technic brick to connect the blade to the hilt. The sword is quite sturdy, and can be swung and slice through goblins with ease. I'll try to get a video uploaded, although my camera is not uploading videos correctly at the moment.

Also, I planned on building a sheath for Orcrist, but due to lack of pieces, It wasn't possible. Still, I'm very pleased with the results. It's quite fun to swing at imaginary Goblin King stomachs :P

Oh, and the decorative swirl in the blade is based off of Cole's Sting replica.

-Throin-

"Throin? Thorin!" Dwalin shook me out of my thoughts

-What?- "The Elves have sent a messanger" -What for?- >"Thranduil demands gold and jems as payment for his loses during the battle" -Durin damn it,let him in!- A gold haired elf marched into the throne room "I am Legolas,Son of Thranduil,Prince of the woodland realm" -I know who you are lef. Speak!- "My king sends his regards" The elf lazed a black wrapping and a sheathed sword. With a swift motion,I drew the sword. It was Orcrist,Goblin Cleaver "And I'm guessing you didn't just come here to bring gifts. what does Thranduil want?- "As your captain said,my king asks for payment and refund for the damage to his realm." - Thranduil, still arrogant as ever.- "Thorin, you would be wise to accept my fathers wish."

-You woodland elves ,always looking after your own arses. You were there when Smaug first plundered the mountain, were you not?- "Yes'I was" -And you where there when your great king abandoned us. When he turned away from the suffering of my people and the inferno that destroyed us! And now you come back to the Mountain, seeking gold? This kingdom and all it's treasure belong to the Dwarves ! Tell your father to begg elsewhere!- "Do not bring the wrath of the wood upon yourself!" -Wrath? I am the king under the Mountain!-

"Bu-" -Out! Run back to Thranduil and tell him I refuse the offer-

I picked up the wrapping and Orcrist and walked out of the Throne room. "Trouble?" Balin was standng in the hallway -Thranduil and his demands- "Let me guess you turned him down?" -Of course I did. He's a soulles coward. Hidding behind his trees and guards-

"And what's that?" I unwraped the black cloth and what I saw shocked me. -I thought I lost this in the battle with Azog!- I picked up my old oak shield -Get this to the forges, and see if they can get it back into shape- "Yes,My king" - Oh and Balin, get me a headcount on our men-

"Of course"

AN: AND so oakenshield is here! this is a what if Throin survived story,so a lot has changed from the books. What do you guys think? Fav,comment, all dat good stuff, and I'll see y'all later!

The walking axe of Gimli, son of Glóin, from “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit,” now in LEGO form!

This model is a full-scale replica of Gimli’s walking axe (as differentiated from his dual-bladed battle axe) and weighs about 1.8 lbs. Planning to build Orcrist, I didn’t have enough time before Bricks Cascade 2013 to complete the sword and its scabbard, so I opted to build one of Gimli’s axes. The head on his walking axe was a great exercise in planning Studs Not On Top connections, and it is surprisingly durable.

this sword was inspired by Tolkien's descriptions of the culture of "Halflings" or "Hobbits". Most believe he created this race of creatures in his stories to encapsulate and reflect the wild spirit and innocence of his early childhood life in the rural English countryside of Sarehole south of Birmingham. There young Tolkien and his brother experienced the joy and wonder of nature, while at the same time seeing the dark foreboding cloud of industrialization swallow it up. Thus the Hobbits in his stories while being quite and peace-loving are also brave and courageous in the face of insurmountable evil.

This sword is small but fierce, aged but keen, and was made to stand up to everything from strongest spider to the toughest hill troll.

Thorin's reclaimed elvish blade from the new Hobbit movie. Made on commission as a mold master from mdf, acrylic, bondo, and love. Really has a nice feel to it in person. I kinda want my own.

I lightened this image up considerably - the original dark exposure hid a lot of detail. I also touched up one eye which was almost completely in shadow.
