Always fire polish your glass in the slumping mold! Unless you want a crumpled "Ops Bowl" like this :-)
My first fire polish was with this bowl (it looked like a normal bowl at the time). I put it directly into my kiln on a small pedestal so that most of the outer edges were exposed for the fire polish. During the polish it collapsed over the pedestal to produce a crumpled mess. No worries, this is glass, I'll fire it again. I decided to try and straighten out the crumples so I slumped it again, this time into a plate mold. It looked a little weird, so I turned it over and put it back in the bowl mold and slumped it. It is now may favorite trinket dish in the kitchen!
So, if you want to make something similar here's the process; fuse, bowl slump, fire polish (don't forget the pedestal), plate slump, invert and bowl slump - ta da!
Welcome to 2065. A new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the cutting-edge military robotics that define the future of combat.
Good example of why I don't care for OPS heads. The two signals on the left are OPS up arrows, but from the outside thru lane, you can not see the one on the left.
