Mid Caption: Soldiers of the Special Operations Task Group and their Afghan National Security Force partners, recently conducted a series of large-scale sweep operations in Oruzgan province. The operations were designed to disrupt insurgent leadership, reduce the threat of improvised explosive devices and protect the local population against insurgent influence, intimidation and violence.
The Special Operations Task Group (SOTG), is a Task Group of about 310 personnel. SOTG operates in support of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), security operations and provides security and force protection for coalition forces in Oruzgan Province. The SOTG consists of Commandos, members of the Special Air Service and enabling support personnel.

Under this operation our forces contribute to the efforts of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) - led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, which seeks to bring security, stability and prosperity to the country and aims at preventing Afghanistan again becoming a safe haven for international terrorists, and the United States-led International Coalition Against Terrorism (ICAT) efforts in the broader Middle East.

FORT IRWIN, California -- Soldiers from the National Training Center's Operations Group's Tarantula Team conducted airborne operations from a V-22 Osprey along side the Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron 165, in conjuction with a team family day event here June 5-6. This operation was the first time any Ops Group personel has ever conducted airborne procedures from a V-22 Osprey.

The multilateral exercise promotes partnership through community service and training. San Diego based Peleliu is currently visiting the country of Timor-Leste and is the flagship for the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group. The ship is currently on a deployment with amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) and amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47), with 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit embarked throughout the three ships.
