I have had so few opportunities to photograph a Nuthatch this Winter, so I was pleased to get a shot of this beauty today in our local wood!

Windows of Opportunity is a macro photograph of a Ficus leaf. This version blended the black and white version with the original, which was photographed on a light box.. A filter was added at 15 percent opacity to warm the leaf up a little bit. I will be off for two weeks starting tomorrow! Have a creative fortnight!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day and spread love and kindness! ❤️❤️❤️

Can you imagine my luck, a man in a bright yellow shirt cleaning a boat with his reflection in the water and on the boat, now that was an opportunity I could not miss!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Had the opportunity to revisit and reprocess an older image.....

This Spotted Pardalote was seen a while ago during a visit to the Hunter Wetlands Centre, Shortland, NSW; Australia.

It was quite active within this paperbark tree seeking out grubs and nesting material.

Hope you like this re-work.

Thanks always for any comments, views or favorites - very much appreciated!!

Wishing you a fantastic day and week ahead!

Missed my workout because my husband had to leave early today. I naturally rise with the sun and took the opportunity to shoot at sunrise. I love the way the light feels in the morning, so warm and immersive, a wonderfully comforting hug.

My first opportunity to photograph Mayflies for a couple of years.

As usual the breeze played havoc and made it more difficult, but these insects are such a photogenic subject!!

LUCKY OPPORTUNITY to photograph one of these Slim and Savage predators, active by day and night, it relentlessly tracks down its prey by scent. It often kills prey more than twice its size, biting deeply into the neck.

Captured at Elmley Nature Reserve in Kent.

THANK YOU for your visit and friendship. Please leave a comment, and I will try to do the same for your latest posting.

Keep safe and well, God bless

Before he heads to school, the little prince helps water the neighborhood plants.

Skippy smiles, noticing his fox friend, and lovingly chuckles,

"Thank you for carrying my book bag. You're a great friend!"

The little prince and his fox enjoy helping others and are very grateful to Soy for helping to inspire this scene.

In Parkes, NSW, for the David Malin Awards, I was told the normal floodlighting on The Dish radio telescope would be turned off to allow a timelapse to be made for the CSIRO. I hadn't planned to shoot The Dish as many others already have, but without the excess lighting, and given I didn't find a better site I thought I should try. Sigma lens, processed in Lightroom.

Towards the sun but conveniently (with a few side steps from me) positioned between two conifers this Kestrel presented something of an unusual opportunity

Not classic photography

But different photography

And I'm always interested in something different!

With all the poor weather at the moment, I haven't been getting out as much, but I had to go into Lancaster this week, so I took the opportunity to grab a shot I had been after doing for some time.

It was really wet when I left home but here on Castle Hill the cobbles and paths had dried out more than I had expected. This sloping cobbled lane leads up to the imposing Lancaster Castle. I wanted to shoot from the other direction catching the old "Gillow" House (Home to the legendary furniture manufacturer of Waring and Gillow fame). However, there was some scaffolding on the opposite side of the lane to the house, so I resorted to this shot looking down the hill from the Castle end.

I will return another day, it would look good with a little snow or fog. Another plan!!

The sparrowhawk is surely one of the UK's most striking raptors.

Unfortunately this male's own strike was far from successful and his chosen prey had long since fled when I took this shot.

Many thanks to all those who take the time to comment on my photos. It is truly appreciated.

On August 15, I had the opportunity to go out with Peter Stahl in his boat to look for the waterfowl that stay far out from the shore.

We found a flock of about 10 Surf Scoters. The lone male is in the center of my photo. I am guessing that we came across a family group. They breed in a few isolated areas in Alberta.

The juveniles and females look similar. I don't have the field experience to distinguish juveniles from adult females.

This was my only decent shot taken from a rocking boat.

This Saturday morning, my wife and I took the opportunity to visit again the Liquidambar trees, which were splendid, in their best moment of Autumn color.

As it had been raining all the night before, and it seemed that it was going to rain again, the park was practically empty, which we appreciated a lot to be able to breathe calmly, not hear noises and be able to take the photos in complete peace.

The Liquidambar leaves were more vibrant than ever after the early morning rain. We loved seeing them.

I hope you like the photo. I take this opportunity to wish you a happy last weekend in October.

When I was sent to Battle Creek to work nights for a couple days a few years ago when they were cutting over CP Baron, I wanted to visit the small farm town of Bellevue about 10 miles east of the yard. The perfect opportunity presented itself in the form of a pair of barns on A451. After snaking my way through the god-awful twisting roads in that area, it wasn't long before the pair came out of the dark and passed the classic mill in the heart of town that seems to be the victim of an eccentric painter.

With all the misinformation about THE virus becoming more exposed by the day, I thought a report on fungus might be refreshing. This definitely points to five turkey tail specimens thriving on this tree....though "models" suggest that thousands upon thousands of spores await the opportunity to attack.

Perhaps we should cut down the forest?

Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.

When opportunity knocks on your door, always be willing to take a chance, because you never know how perfect something could turn out to be.

There was no queue for this shot but normally there would be. I think 2021 will live long in the memory for the year that tourism basically stopped

I am just now beginning to start to understand how much opportunity there is to utilise even the smallest amount of light. My world just expanded :)

This is beautiful Jess sitting on her chair complete with dog booster cushions! She likes to sit there and survey the room and look out the window as she is here.

The field is not yet ordered. I can't wait to see what's being grown here this year.

I recently had a wonderful opportunity to spend a few days photographing a few of the beautiful and ethereal cypress swamps in the southern US. This time of year is known for fall colours and for the mist hovering over the water. But nothing ever goes to plan. The day before I arrived, a great storm raged through and took down many of the leaves. And the weather was unseasonably warm, and without the cold air the mist mostly didn't materialize. But it was a magical experience all the same, and I loved the stillness, the sense of gothic mystery and the somber colour palette.

"If we aren’t able to look beyond our current situations, we will miss incredible opportunities. Dreams can certainly become realities. There are possibilities everywhere. You just need to find them and believe in them.

You fall, you rise, you make mistakes, you live, you learn. You’re human, not perfect. You’ve been hurt, but you’re alive. Think of what a precious privilege it is to breathe, to think, to enjoy life, and to chase the things that you love the most.

Sometimes there will be sadness in your journey, but you must look at all of the beautiful blessings that surround you every day. Continue putting one foot in front of the other even when we hurt, for we will never know what is waiting just around the bend.

Life is a blessing. You are a gift. Have a grateful heart for all you have accomplished. It takes insane courage to move beyond anything that is holding you back. Have faith and believe in yourself, it will change EVERYTHING".-- Chara Davis

I shan't be around very much between now and the new year so I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year.

Comments are very welcome but please no invites as I won't have time to deal with them.

(For those that are interested, this is our Christmas card for this year. It was originally shot in 1981 and has been re-photographed, tweaked, selectively coloured, text added and, of course, approved at every stage by the AD. It features our two children, now aged 36 and 38.)

For you, the best Christmas record of all time!!!

Mists and rain covering Drakes Island and Cornwall.

An opportunity that was on for some time but 43043 and 43081 were held on the approach to Water Orton and 37059 and 37069 ran a little early so in the end, in reality, it didn't although this is what it could have looked like. The HST's were making that ominous journey to Long Marston from Neville Hill running as 5Z62 while the EE's were on a Derby R.T.C. circular running as 5Z17.

Don't wait for opportunities, but create them.
