My attempt at the "Crazy Tuesday" theme "Planes trains and automobiles".
Shot with a "Tomioka-Copal 82 mm F 4" (enlarging) lens on a Canon EOS R5.
My partner's dogs Oski and Lucy associate me with walks, so that every time I visit, they get very excited.
So we don't use the word 'walk' or 'the W word' but instead refer to taking them for a Weetabix, though there are signs already that they've made the connection, leaving us no choice but to change it again.
Maybe I'll be taking them for a honey nut cluster at the weekend if the weather will allow it.
An Operation Lifesaver consist like no other was assigned to promote safety along the Wasatch Front in late October 2006.
Powering the train were factory fresh UP SD70ACe units 1989 and 1996 bracketing a pair of stainless steel Budd passenger cars.
The unique train was photographed in the Fourth South Yard in Salt Lake City, Utah the afternoon of Oct. 27, 2006.

We stumbled by chance on a coast guard rescue operation while visiting Las Teresitas.
Helicopter and boats were searching around a specific spot on the coast.
We checked later and found out that tragically two young swimmers got trapped in a small cave and drowned before help arrived.
Operation Shingle (January 22, 1944), during the Italian Campaign of World War II, was an Allied amphibious landing against Axis forces in the area of Anzio and Nettuno, Italy. The operation was commanded by Major General John P. Lucas and was intended to outflank German forces of the Winter Line and enable an attack on Rome. The resulting combat is commonly called the Battle of Anzio. (Read the article on wikipedia).
Unfortunately, this is only a very small part of the cemetery.

When the elevator door opened to the rooftop pool at Central Palace Hotel in Saigon, I did not expect to see THIS.
The black helicopter is a stylized replica and tribute to one of the most iconic photographs of the Vietnam War—Hubert Van Es’s 1975 image of a rooftop evacuation during the Fall of Saigon. Installed on a platform in the hotel’s rooftop swimming pool, it directly overlooks the original photo site. That photo can be viewed here:

The pharmacy in the Franciscan Monastery in Dubrovnik, Croatia (Hrvatske) has been in continuous operation since the Middle Ages.
Dover and Rockaway River RP-2 with the equipment for the next day's Operation Toy Train runs west through Dover, NJ, on NJ Transit's Morris and Essex Line. The train would run the next day over DRRV rails from Rockaway to Phillipsburg, to collect toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots.

Traffic rolls on as 93M and it's lone Operation Lifesaver GP38-2 glide over Herr Street in downtown Harrisburg as they return to Harrisburg Yard from the Steelton Industrial Track.
At the 2008 event, enough trash was collected to fill 10 40-yard dumpsters.

Operation Barbarossa started on June 22nd, 1941, with the Germans rapidly invading the Soviet Union and decimating Soviet forces in virtually every battle. Hitler's plan was to conquer Eastern Europe for future German colonization called "Lebensraum". Ukraine was especially desired since at the time it was the breadbasket of Europe. When the Germans were conquering the Soviet Union, the Ukrainians and other peoples welcomed them as heroes because of the fact they "freed" them from communist oppression. The Holodomor was fresh in the average Ukrainians memory which was an artificial famine that killed millions and they were still resentful towards Stalin.
Two groups that wanted to take advantage of this moment was the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) which was into Italian fascism, was led by Andriy Melnik and the younger more violent OUN-B, was National Socialist which was led by Stepan Bandera. They originally existed because they were angry that Poland was "occupying" the province of Galicia which is claimed by both Poles and Ukrainians (even to this day).
However, the Ukrainians would learn that the Nazis were replacing one form of oppression with another. Hitler hated Slavic peoples and wanted them enslaved, "transferred" (possibly to Siberia) or at worst exterminated. When the OUN declared an independent Ukrainian state, that was shut down as quickly as possible. The Nazis committed atrocities against the Ukrainians which soon led to the growth of more partisan groups and led to some joining the Soviet army by the time they started "liberating" it from the Nazis.
In a last ditch effort, the Nazis freed imprisoned Ukrainian nationalist leader, Stepan Bandera to inspire the Ukrainians but that ultimately failed. Even during his imprisonment all the OUN-B did was mass murder Poles in the provinces of Galicia and Volhynia. Today he's seen as a controversial figure as he is popular in Western Ukraine which is full of Catholic Ukrainians and hated in Eastern Ukraine which is full of Orthodox Russians.
April 2030, after information that has been intercepted by the crushed Warsaw Pact about the weak points of DARKWATER's defense around New York City and the massive planning that followed, the attack may commence. Platoons of EU soldiers infiltrate and squeeze through the cracks in the defense system. The most efficient way to infiltrate was to move through towering crates and harbor ships to attack the grand city.

Rio Grande Heritage SD70ACe No. 1989 leads UP's SSCSC-28 on the former D&RGW through the Jordan Narrows east of Riverton, Utah on Oct. 28, 2006. The train ran east between Salt Lake City and Provo, returning west to Salt Lake City with the Southern Pacific Heritage SD70ACe, No. 1996 on the point.

The rain lashed down in thick sheets over Glen Etive, turning the winding Skyfall road into a silver ribbon of watery steel. Mist clung low to the heathered hills, and thunder rumbled like distant artillery fire. A lone figure waddled through the storm, trench coat flapping, umbrella hopelessly inverted.
Secret Agent P — the penguin with a license to chill — was on a mission.
He adjusted his tiny earpiece, which squawked unintelligibly before going silent. The enemy transmission had gone dead just after he’d intercepted the scrambled message: "Package en route. Eyes open. Danger cold-blooded."
P narrowed his beady eyes.
Just then, the moan of an approaching engine cut through the rain. A sleek, aggressive Mazda SUV tore around the bend, tires slicing the slick tarmac like a scalpel. Its gunmetal paint glistened. A badge gleamed on the side: MI6.
With a screech, the SUV skidded to a halt beside him. The tinted window slid down.
Inside, Commander James Bond 007 looked unfazed by the weather, dark suit immaculate, tie perfectly knotted.
"Need a lift, Agent P?" he asked coolly.
The penguin didn’t answer. He just hopped onto the running board and slid smoothly into the passenger seat, water dripping off his feathers like oil off a seal.
Bond glanced at him. "I trust you're armed."
P tapped his flipper to his custom flipper-gun. Bond gave a curt nod and floored it.
As the SUV thundered along the valley road, gun barrels emerged from the front grill, and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.
"Expecting trouble?" P asked in his gravelly Scottish accent.
Bond smirked. "Trouble’s already here."
A muffled cough echoed from the rear.
From the boot.
Bond sighed. "Ignore that."
Another loud sneeze followed, then a metallic thunk. The boot popped slightly, and a head emerged. Judi Dench, in a slightly damp Superman costume, complete with cape, sniffled.
"Bond, you idiot, you hit a pothole the size of Inverness!" she croaked, nose red, mascara slightly smeared. "I told you the cape wasn’t waterproof!"
Agent P turned, blinked once, then twice. "Why is she dressed like Superman?"
"Charity event," Bond muttered.
Judi coughed violently. "Charity can wait! You two better focus — the Cold-Blood Syndicate is already here."
Sure enough, headlights flared in the distance. Black Land Rovers sped through the mist behind them, their hoods painted with cobra sigils.
Machine guns chattered.
P leaned out the window and fired a tiny rocket launcher from under his wing. One Land Rover exploded in a spectacular fireball.
Bond hit a red button. The SUV's rear seat ejected, launching a decoy penguin drone dressed in a tuxedo skyward. It twirled through the air, attracting enemy fire before detonating in a burst of confetti and rubber fish.
Judi sighed. "I’m getting too old for this nonsense."
Bond didn’t answer. He was too busy flooring the gas and muttering, “Remind me never to share a car with a penguin again.”
Agent P just winked at Judi. “You’d look better in a Batgirl costume anyway.”
Lightning split the sky. The battle had just begun.

A big hornet nest on the tall trees has been destroyed. Six people from Public Defense Department (JPA) called upon by the villagers came with a long prop, cotton waste and gasoline. About 15 minutes later, they start the flame and bring it up to burn the nest. Then, a colony of hornet (Giant Wasps) has turned to ash.
Can you imagine what the lost to the nature and macro lovers like us !
Auschwitz II-Birkenau gatehouse; the train track, in operation May–October 1944, led directly to the gas chambers.
Birkenau was the largest of the more than 40 camps and sub-camps that made up the Auschwitz complex. During its three years of operation, it had a range of functions. When construction began in October 1941, it was supposed to be a camp for 125 thousand prisoners of war. It opened as a branch of Auschwitz in March 1942, and served at the same time as a center for the extermination of the Jews. In its final phase, from 1944, it also became a place where prisoners were concentrated before being transferred to labor in German industry in the depths of the Third Reich.
The majority—probably about 90%—of the victims of Auschwitz Concentration Camp died in Birkenau. This means approximately a million people. The majority, more than nine out of every ten, were Jews. A large proportion of the more than 70 thousand Poles who died or were killed in the Auschwitz complex perished in Birkenau. So did approximately 20 thousand Roma and Sinti, in addition to Soviet POWs and prisoners of other nationalities.

It's that time of the year again when we are preparing the Warehouse to receive volunteers to help put together shoe boxes for children around the world in less fortunate countries.

Metra train 623 uses the 2016 Operation North Pole equipment as it pauses to let off passengers at Des Plaines station on December 9th.
The next day, the train will carry 70+ children who have life-threatening illnesses and their family members on a train ride with Santa as part of a day long holiday experience for the kids.
After the event, Union Pacific officials make every effort to keep the five car train intact for several weeks.
