The previous shot linked a seawall with literature . This shot combines sculpture with nature which is exactly the modus operandi of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park . I think these three Moore pieces part of the upright motive series look pretty good against the autumn trees
The Upright Motives were part of a large commission, for the courtyard of the new Olivetti building in Milan. Moore stated that “my immediate thought was that any sculpture that I should do must be in contrast to this horizontal rhythm. It needed some vertical form in front of it. At the time I also wanted to have a change from the Reclining Figure theme that I had returned to so often.”
Altogether Moore created twelve Upright Motives in the mid 1950s. The sculpture which developed a primitive cruciform head later became known as the Glenkiln Cross, after a farm on a private estate in Scotland where the first cast of the work was sited. In their powerful symbolism these pieces owe much to the tall, upright stones, known as menhirs, from prehistoric times. Moore brought all these influences together to create forms which are unmistakably his own.

The last major work by the Karlsruhe architect Egon Eiermann (1904–1970) was the ensemble, which is distinctive due to the two towers, that he built for the Italian office machine company Olivetti in Frankfurt am Main. What was important to him was the slim shape, developed from the task, construction and material, which at the same time forms a characteristic figure.
Adriano Olivetti, the son of the company's founder, attached importance to quality not only for all of his company's products, which became cult objects of Italianità in design and established the Olivetti style. He also represented the same claim in architecture. For the German branch, grandson Roberto Olivetti signed Eiermann, a particularly renowned representative of German post-war modernism. For the architect, the contract was a grand finale, for the Karlsruhe student Klaus Kinold the beginning of his career as an architectural photographer.

Thank you very much for your visit and comments.
This is the complete album of that visit. --- --- www.flickr.com/photos/136891509@N07/albums/72157662510685532

A little history
Vintage Olivetti Typewriter (Lettera 35)
If there is a historical and reference brand of typewriters it is Olivetti, just by referring to this brand we already know that it is part of history. Olivetti was an Italian factory specializing in the development of typewriters, opening its doors in 1908, it designed various models with various features and functions so that the user could do his typing work.
The first machines of the Italian brand were heavy, but already in the 50s they began to create light machines weighing only 3kg, which made it easy to transport, in addition, the design and functionality made Olivetti one of the main factories of these artifacts.
The Olivetti Lettera 35 is a portable mechanical typewriter created in 1972 by Mario Bellini and released to the public in 1974.
The retro and old design of olivetti machines make them an ideal ornamental element for any decorative space, however, due to the quality of the product, it is an ideal work tool for those who like to type.
Macro photography is one of those disciplines full of challenges and possibilities, and it has a lot of magic because it reveals a different world that often goes unnoticed.
Who among us is not fascinated by Macro photography? Those colorful or monochrome photos with all those details, portraying everyday objects that we have rarely seen so closely.
Does it not cause you admiration to contemplate the giant head of a fly, the texture of the petals of a rose, or the details of the wings of a butterfly? Or just any detail of something you have at home?
I recognize that this photographic genre is one of my weaknesses. I can spend hours and hours observing Macro photos of elements of nature, or of simple details that we can find in our daily lives. It is a delight that for me is priceless. Here on Flickr there are great photographers in this genre, whom I admire a lot! I just try to learn about this every day ... but don't just passively contemplate the macro beauty that others portray, try it yourself, it's fascinating !!!
Here you have an image of a detail of my old Olivetti typewriter!

Saw this old and pretty broken up Olivetti Lettera 35 typewriter at the Centro Artesanal Pueblito Los Dominicos in Santiago, Chile. I wonder what kind of stories have been written on it? Photo now available for licencing on Foap: www.foap.com/photos/old-broken-olivetti-lettera-35-typewr...
