I spotted Stranger No. 20 talking to her friend, my 21st, while waiting in line for the store cashier. Then I looked away to find some other targets (and/or a good vintage buy) in case I didn't catch her. In the end, I still found myself turning back to her direction about a few meters away.
Hubby and I were already outside when suddenly 20 and 21 stepped out. It came out like a pretty normal thing to me - to ask for some headshots while showing my Flickr photostream via iPhone. I think I may have programmed my brain to pursue them because I didn't feel nervous nor shy. There was some kind of vibe, I guess...
She was easy to persuade even when I stopped her from putting her sunglasses on. I like that she was cool and giving. I mean, hey, there's nothing to be insecure about some close-up shots when you are photo-worthy.
I usually like clear bright pictures; but during post-processing, I felt like dimming this a little bit. It reminds me of that old photo I once saw in some '70s or '80s magazine. The model's stare, matte lips, slightly tilted head and overall expression evoke a sense of nostalgia. Plus, the purplish tone set the mood for a beautiful vintage vibe.
Tall and lovely Jamie projected an image that seemed stylized for a magazine, not an ordinary out-of-the-blue stranger shot. She loos like model, doesn't she? Well, maybe she is...

What I love about walking around in London, is that no again you will find a narrow, dark and cobbled street and it is these streets that make me feel like you are in London. Clink Street just has the old London feel to it.
I took this shot because I loved how the street lights gave a perfect leading line coming out the tunnel. I knew straight away that I wanted to give the photo an old school feel to it but on my first edit I just could not get it right, I felt like there was something missing. My thought was to go back and get people in a motion blur to give it the ghost like effect, I did that it I was still not happy, but that is just me being picky. I think what it needs in terms of people is maybe people in suits or some sort of formal wear…maybe going back there during the day when everyone is suited a booted…
I tried several times to get the colour right but what I thought was right just did not look right despite being told it does look like a old photo. I did some research on what the colour should look like and with the help of my new SLR Lounge presets system I began to play away until I go this image. I did reduced the blacks a bit more because I just wanted some of the people to be seen/lit by the street lights and brought the vignetting in as far as I could without taking out the light in the middle.

City Hatters, established in 1910, is situated “under the clocks” in Flinders Street Station. An iconic retailer of men’s hats for generations.
Taken on my saturday afternoon walk in the sun. Farmer's field alongside Under Billinge Lane Blackburn, Lancs. Just on the edge of Town about a mile from my house.

I was struggling with this photoshoot a bit. Kesenia isn't the easiest to photograph because she is so pale, and she almost becomes translucent in the natural light. I had a lot of straight on shots of her, but I wasn't happy with any of them. The only decent shots I was getting were close-ups, but I really wanted to show the dress. As I was uploading photos to my laptop from my camera, something made me look over at her. From where I was sitting, I could see her at the angle you see in the photo. I was like, "That's the shot!" Funny how that works out sometimes. :)
