There she was...just sitting in a lot in a Missouri town...surrounded by a lot of other faded dreams.

Just learned they entered the car market in 1902 as an electric vehicle manufacturer, but switched to petrol soon after. Love the profile from the back.

I Slid Nick into this Photo for Slider Sunday. I didn't have Nick in the base photo, just the empty car. But I did have Nick in a second photo, but it wasn't as good of an image. For one thing, there was no more smoke. Perhaps the car was no longer running; I can't recall.

So I took him from the one photo and composited him into the other. You can see the two original photos below, in the Comment section.

Most folks at first glance would think Jag Mk.2 but this is actually badged Daimler 250 V8.

Sister to the Jag, but built in far fewer numbers, this example is superbly presented.

Another oldie but goodie from yesteryear makes an intriguing lawn ornament on a farm outside Morrison,IL.

My husband spotted this old timer as we drove through Buffalo, Missouri, and shouted out, “There’s an old Packard!” He knew I’d be interested because I actually used to have to drive one. My parents inherited one from a great uncle, a ‘51, and decided it would be a perfect second car for 2 teenagers to drive to school. I was the hit of all the drive in restaurants as I cruised through in the Gray Grub! Years later, on a visit home, I hopped into the relic, intending to drive a few blocks to a shopping center. Imagine my surprise when after backing down the driveway, I was totally unable to turn it...no power steering that I was now used to! My dad had to come out and drive it back into the garage....

A shell of a vehicle I found in a Kansas field years ago.

American influence in the design...a desirable car for many at the time...and, in this condition, desirable still, 60 years later.

American styling at the time the Mk 3 Cortina came out, made the model stand out among most British family cars.

"And we've all grown older,

come see where we have been,

Out here rusting in the rain."

The glory days of this old Caddy are long gone now. Sad to see what time and neglect can do. : ((

Зато любой сюда войдет за пятачок...

CARS!!!!! Hackberry-This stop is to take photos of the old cars, gas pumps and a 1957 Corvette-a must see! This General Store is certainly one of the highlights of any Route 66 adventure. Located on the longest remaining continuous stretch of the old Rt. 66, you can get to this gem either going west from Seligman or north and east from Kingman. It's really worth the drive and the diversion, so just do it and make this short drive into the past.

Inside, the store is colorfully decorated with memorabilia of Rt. 66 and other time period goodies. Feel free to help yourself to a complimentary cookie and don't forget to check out the restroom, it is filled to the brim with eye candy. You can purchase snacks, soft drinks, ice cream and long forgotten treats like Neccos at this store.

Outside is where most of the visual treats lie, so take the time to walk among all of the terribly interesting reminders of a by-gone era behind the store. (Tripadisor).

(Not my family, but someone’s) :)
