A CN oil train rumbles through Juniper Beach Provincial Park. The park is located on the north side of the Thompson River west of the town of Savona and protects the dry sagebrush and desert ecology of the area.

The sun was moving toward the horizon, so I decided to use its light to capture images of a liquid world. A large dish of water elevated above colorful fabric with the addition of liquid soap and oil...and I was ready. It seemed to take forever, yet I actually cheered when I saw this image through my macro lens. Haven't we all been caught in the middle of something?
The oil painting was painted by someone named Bos.
Unfortunately, I have no information about this painter.
The painting belonged to my parents and hangs somewhere in my house.

I was trying to find the balance of backlight and lighting the strawberry directly. The surface of the water and oil reflect the direct light which causes crazy highlights. My setup is in a closet and I am working on the floor which helps dictate how long I can work. When my back and legs are done, I pack it up.
There have been some very heavy showers over the UK in the last few days and those conditions are ideal for photographing dramatic clouds. For this image, I stopped off at Common Lane in Bramcote, Nottingham, during my lunch break. I just hoped that there might be a break in the dark clouds to illuminate the oil seed field flowers in contrast with the ominous sky.
