About a million years ago a friend of mine told me, if I was going to ride a recumbent I was the one that would have to make it cool, well, here I am with my two new 50 watt monochristaline solar panels packed in my trailer on my recumbent heading to my boat to make some ice with the sun... I'd say that was pretty damn cool!
A home-made, hand-powered disc sander made from scrap, a bicycle from the dump, a chipboard/particle board pallet top and a small pallet. We're powering down on all household items, including tools. I use a mitre block but it's never accurate enough so I wanted a sander to obtain a better mitre joint. By altering the guides you can also use it to square up any sawn edges. This little project ironically uses hand and power tools to create a hand-powered disc sander. I used the power tools to save time, as we have a lot of work at the moment but it can be made using hand tools alone. The disc, for example does not have to be round and if you use a thicker chipboard you will not need the router.

A more sophisticated wooden design than the earlier cardboard version. I based it around four identical frames made of pallet wood, insulated with organic hemp and clad with scrap wood left over from the hen house. Our first meal from it was organic cassoulet cooked from scratch - fantastic though I say so myself!
