Last week we sent a bunch of Scout Books to SXSW in Texas with @rohdesign and @austinkleon for their Visual Notetaking 101 Panel.
These guys take awesome notes, and they designed this pocket notebook to offer you a chance to create beautifully illustrated notes, too. The cover features illustration exercises for better notetaking.
Count yourself lucky if you were at the panel and received one of these! They ran out right away! Collectors item.

An unused street (light pole) poster for an early Jane's Addiction show way back when...
This is a really nice print of good quality.
Apparently playing with "24-7 Spyz" on Thursday, November 8 at The Unicorn (3301 E Tidwell at 59).
So that would make it 1990 in Houston, Texas (The Unicorn is now closed and was no longer open in 2001 which was the next Thursday, Nov 8 to come up and coincidentally when Jane's Addiction reunited...).
Turns out this is a Frank Kozik original poster.
And, Frank speaks! Well, so to speak (as it were) in a post about this poster:

Mia Nolting is a Portland-based artist, illustrator and designer. She filled this Scout Book with page after page of illustration, collage, typography and musings. We're impressed.
The Scout Book cover was designed by Bwana Spoons, another Portland-based artist.
What do you fill your Scout Books with? Share the creative goodness that takes place in your 32-page pocket notebooks and add your images to our flickr pool: Show Us Your Scout Book Flickr Pool.
Stay tuned: we interviewed Mia for our soon-to-be-released Scout Books blog! Awesome!
Jeremy Dubow currently has a solo exhibit of his 11 x 14 oil on mylar paintings titled, Jeremy Dubow: Portraits at Hiromi Ogawa Architects Portland, OR location which will be open through July by appointment. The exhibit consists of 27 portraits each numbered according to the chronological order in which they were painted. Three of these paintings were selected and produced into Scout Books by Beadle Design. Kristin Beadle was so kind as to send us some great photos from the exhibit opening night reception and some great closeups of the Scout Books as well.
Jeremy Dubow is a former Californian, born in San Francisco with his formal education including studies at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence Italy. His love for classical art and contemporary realism are at the heart of his work and quite apparent in this current exhibit. This three-hour head study series is Dubow’s first as a meditation on the form and essence of the subject with an emphasis on decisive brush strokes.
Three new designs, hot off the Pinball Presses!

The Rainbow Box, by Designer/illustrator Norman Laliberté and author Joseph Pintauro.
This product is in mint condition, with possible exception of box itself which is still amazing, but with a sticker pull and hard to notice edge wear, but barely worn at all. Interior, books and poster appear brand new.
Produced in limited edition of 15,000, this consists of the box itself, four books—A Box of Sun, The Peace Box, The Rabbit Box and The Magic Box plus “The Peace Poster”, which says "Make the World Attractive to the Rest of the Universe" - which honors in art and poetry the four seasons plus the times of life. The idea was to present these four different subjects in individual books that were then put together in as colorful and as exciting a manner as the books themselves were. The concept of the cube represented the multifaceted views of time and life as presented within the books. To produce so many pages of color in a special package at a minimal price required the integration of the efforts of the poet, the artist and the printer to get maximum benefit at minimal dollar cost.
Special Features: The box itself was manufactured by The Box Shop, New Haven, Connecticut, who also assembled the pieces into the cubes and manufactured the color space interiors.

Frances May is a Portland boutique run by a grandmother-granddaughter pair. We printed this business card for them on Environment 100# White Cover stock, in a Warm Gray Pantone soy-based ink.
How lovely!
.
This is the back of the poster described below. The impression of the ink from the poster printed before this one (especially the red) which this one then rested on after it was printed through the offset press, is quite visible in a ghostly sort of way.
Usually that's a not so good thing (ink too heavy) but in this case it adds more character and authenticity to it.

Look for these Hot off the Press Designer Cards from Nikki McClure in sweet spots all around Portland.
Brooklyn photographer Jason Kempin had this business card printed, and boy is it lovely. The custom square shape makes it unique, and Pantone black soy inks printed on 100% recycled chipboard is always a great, classic combination.
