La Defense contains two separate office buildings. Covered in aluminum plates it does not stand out in its environment. The almost dull silver outer facade is like a camouflage. From the street there are only two points of view were one can peek into the colorful inner court.
Once located between the two interlocking buildings you experience a rich colorful facade. This is done with Scotchcal foil behind gold colored glass. This special polyester based foil changes color and brightness depending on the weather and position of the sun.
25 Ontario Street, Toronto
Toronto's disappearing old mid-century architecture. A few months ago I sort of accidentally went to downtown's Adelaide/ Richmond Streets area, and came across architecture of Toronto's industrial past. Many such old and vintage buildings are being demolished to make room for residential high-rises which in Canada and the U.S. are called condominiums (or condos). I thought I'd capture what remains before they are also re-developed.
The building is listed (grade II) as being of special historic or architectural importance. The offices are on a corner site, and are in red brick with tile roofs. There are two storeys, and two ranges forming an L-shaped plan, one with eight, and the other with ten bays. Some windows have metal frames, and others are casements.
The Historic England listing entry says that during the late C18 and most of C19 the Horsehay Ironworks formed part of the Coalbrookdale Company Ironworks and were run by members of the (Abraham) Darby family. They were finally taken over by the Simpson family soon after 1886.

From left to right... eMac #1 (1GHz, 1 GB RAM, OS 10.4) used for my EvoCam security camara, PC #1 ( PC is located under desk, only 1 screen) , MacBook Pro (2 GHz, 2GB RAM, OS 10.4) extended screen is to the left of the MacBook Pro, eMac #2 (1GHz, 1GB RAM, OS 10.4) extended screen is to the right of the MacBook Pro (I hacked the firmware to support extended desktop) , PC #2 (Toshiba Portege M200 Tablet PC) exteded screen to the right. I use Synergy hosted on eMac #2 to control them all.
The Dell laptop on my desk is a system I am fixing right now. Off screen to the left next to eMac #1 is a HP LaserJet 4050n printer.
