The breeze off the lake was swaying these wild daisies...the image is not crooked (although I am often an offender).
A picture of this railtour by Adrian Nichols flic.kr/p/2m6QVJn and his reference to a badly parked car delaying the tour made me realise I had seen the offending car being dealt with.
The 1980/1-registered Mazda had been left blocking the line and, presumably, the trainmen who walked in front of the train had called in Dorset Police to move the vehicle. They in turn had called a local garage to assist, who had broken into the vehicle and all were now manhandling the offender away from the running line. As an aside, the local garage, Westham Motors, is still in business in 2021.
Although vehicles often seemed to foul the running line, more often a little ‘nudge’ was sufficient to move vehicles out of harm’s way.
As Adrian Nichols described, the train was the Branch Line Society’s ‘Intrinsic Treacle Eater’, powered by 33108 and was heading from Waterloo to Weymouth Quay.
Built as a residential dwelling in 1480, Tu Hwnt i’r Bont (Beyond the Bridge) is actually considerably older than the Inigo Jones bridge it stands beside. Some years later the building was used as the Courthouse for the surrounding area. From here the most serious offenders could have been taken to Tan y Craig in Llanrwst where they could be hanged outside the old gaol!
Over the centuries Tu Hwnt i’r Bont has fallen into disrepair several times and been rebuilt and restored through the generosity of the townsfolk. During the last century, Tu Hwnt i’r Bont was acquired by the National Trust who have since leased the building for over 50 years.
… Part of the early nineteenth century neoclassical craze. One of the worst offenders in my opinion. Sugar icing anyone ?

Nilo-Stolobenskaya pustyn (Nilo-Stolobensky Desert) s a monastery on Stolobny Island on Lake Seliger. This monastery arose on the site of the feat of the Monk Nile, the Stolobensky miracle worker, whose memory the Russian Orthodox Church performs on December 20.
Over the five centuries of its existence, the monastery, initially extremely poor, survived the heyday and special favor of the tsar’s family, plundered during the years of Soviet rule, turned into a labor commune, then a place for juvenile offenders and a camp for Polish prisoners of war, a hospital, a retirement home, an architectural monument and a camp site .
Monastic life in the Nile Desert revived after 1990, when the desert was returned to the Church. As before, Neil Stolobensky blesses the island, when on the memorial days the inhabitants of the monastery pass the procession with his relics, and recently the cell icon of the saint, which was considered lost, has returned to its place.

Today I really stretched myself in a couple of ways. First off I took a self-portrait, not my strong suit but I tried to come up with an unusual way to take it somewhat like a wedding photographer shooting a bride getting ready. I constantly find myself reminding people to stop being self-deprecating and insulting themselves yet I am one of the worst offenders. So, hello, this is me with a bit of help from Lightroom but I am taking baby steps and trying to practice what I preach. How will you stretch yourself today?

My relatives for multiple generations rest here.
The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1320, but the church was not new that year. The first church at Fjære was likely a wooden church with a stone altar. That church was taken down at some point an replaced with the present church, likely around the year 1150, but the old stone altar from the old church was left in place and a new stone church was constructed on the same site surrounding the existing altar. The new church had a 18-by-12-metre (59 ft × 39 ft) rectangular nave with an 8-by-10-metre (26 ft × 33 ft) rectangular choir on the east end. There was a semi-circular apse built on the eastern end of the choir as well. The church was constructed with a basement crypt underneath it. (The crypt contains 26 bodies, mainly important people from the community during the 17th century. The basement was formally closed to visitors in 1997 to give respect to the dead.)[
The church was essentially the same from the early 1300s until the 1600s when changes were undertaken. First, the roof structure was changed, and the church got a flat ceiling and a new attic floor. Since then, the number of seats has been increased by adding balcony seating areas. During the 18th century, the apse had settlement damage, and the roof there was torn down and the apse was rebuilt along with a wooden sacristy on the east side of it. Around 1745 the gallery along the north wall was extended to the choir. In 1827, a large wooden tower was built on the west end of the building. In 1898, the west gallery was expanded to accommodate the organ. In the 1930s, plans were made to renovate and restore the old church. These got interrupted by the German invasion of Norway and the ensuing period of war. The restoration was finished during the 1950s and 1960s. When it was all finished, they had removed the old sacristy in the east and a larger sacristy was built on the north side of the nave. The foundations were all fixed to correct the sagging and skewed walls within the building. Frescoes were uncovered on the walls at this time as well.
29th of October 2021, the church was broken into and vandalised. Amongst other things, the offenders had entered into the 17th century crypt and damaged various artifacts such as the 13th century baptismal font

I think the building looks idylic with its ever changing coat of leafy colour, in the Autumn it becomes a striking mass of reds and golds a must see for me. Apart from that a delicious cream tea with homemade scones and jam, lovely, or a very varied menu of lunch choices, cakes teas etc

From 1833 until 1853, Port Arthur was the destination for the hardest of convicted British criminals, those who were secondary offenders having reoffended after their arrival in Australia. Rebellious personalities from other convict stations were also sent there. In addition, Port Arthur had some of the strictest security measures of the British penal system.
The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO inscribed the Port Arthur Historic Site onto the World Heritage Register on 31 July 2010, as part of the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage property. Port Arthur is one of Australia's most visited historical sites, receiving over 250,000 visitors each year.
When it comes to abandoning places, the old miners are high on the list of offenders. The West, particularly Nevada and the California Foothills is littered with their old abodes--sometimes entire towns. The miner typically followed the cycle of boom and bust, choosing to move on when their claim went bust. Here, two old cabins decompose in the woods of Nevada County. They actually look like they might have been pretty upscale digs at one time--for a miner.

The Kansas City Workhouse. Built in 1897, the building was originally designed as a city jail for petty offenders such as vagrants and debtors. It’s located on 2001 Vine St near 18th and Vine in the historic Jazz District.
I shot this in the middle of the day with a 10 stop ND filter and created this image in nik collection. This week has been about darker and ominous tones for me. I’ve been trying to get a bit more creative in my photography efforts.

The forbidding entrance to the Citadel, the centre piece of the massive 19th Century Western Heights fortifications at Dover, designed to defend the town in the event of an attack by the Napoleonic hordes. More recently it was used to keep people in, firstly young offenders, then up to 2015, asylum-seekers.
Pink rose and drops from archives.
Early May we had a terrorist attack in Perth.
This is how our government handles it.
The rules are as follows;
1/ When an Islamic terrorist attack occurs, never mention “Islam” or “Islamic”.
2/ If the offender is a teenager, allow the “young and stupid” implication to flow through the briefing – even if not actually stated.
3/ As soon as possible, introduce the claim of “radicalisation”. This has the immediate effect of isolating the offender from “normal” Islam thus avoiding the need to answer more searching questions.
4/ Add “on the internet” to explain how the radicalisation occurred. The idea that an unknown and mysterious force of evil – somewhere out in the ether – twisted the mind of a young and vulnerable individual simply reinforces the separation objective. It removes responsibility from the local community into the dark world of the internet and the separation and isolation objective is now virtually achieved.
To cap off the briefing exercise, there is one more vital component;
5/ Mental illness. This provides the coup de grace to the briefing and even offers some sympathy for the offender. In fact, an effective mental illness presentation could potentially wipe out any liability for the terrorist attack and the offender may be transformed into a victim.

He's like a little troll who lives below a bridge and doesn't want anyone to cross it. He lives inside the hole of this cable table. The hole is just beneath him. When he hears anyone trying to get a drink he pops up and usually scares the so called offender off. He forgets that it is a public facility.
Seeds sown by his words and his attitude toward those he doesn't like, which later grow into violent acts by angry people. The mass murder in Las Vegas is hardly the last of days like this. The head of DOJ has his own short sighted ideas for reducing gun violence and the murder of innocent people. see below
"The proven method for saving the lives of innocent Americans is not disarming them.
The proven method for saving the lives of innocent Americans is to arrest, prosecute, convict and jail criminal offenders, especially armed career criminals illegally using guns.
This is the way to reduce gun violence."

The bumble bee is a member of the genus Bombas. This group are found primarily in higher altitudes or latitudes in the northern hemisphere, but also in South America.
However, in Australia, this group is seen as less than humble by some. The European bumble bee (Bombus terrestris) was introduced to Tasmania in 1992. While some sources believe this was an accident, others believe the bees were introduced deliberately.
It is highly likely that one or a few bumblebee queens had made it to Tasmania by boat from New Zealand, where they persist in successful, long-term, feral populations. The Battery Point bees could have arrived as either accidental stowaways, or as a deliberate and illegal introduction by an unknown offender?
Since that time, the species have spread across the island, with a study in 2006 showing the species had spread from the sea to the island’s highest peak, Mount Ossa. This raises the debate, what would happen if the European bumble bee spread to the rest of Australia?
The introduced Tasmanian bumble bee has raised strong debate around issues of biosecurity and the benefits of an exotic species helping out horticulturalists with the pollination of local crops.

The peak of Utegardsnipa affords a spectacular view of the Sørfjorden and its surrounding mountains near the town of Bruvik, Norway.
The family ate snacks atop the broad summit and attempted hand stands and backflips (to be clear, only the oldest son attempted a flip) while breathing in the open space and solitude. Far down the slope, we noticed a man making his way determinedly up the ridgeline at a relatively good pace. When he stopped to chat after reaching us, we learned he is a local, and he informed us that the island visible here was called the Alcatraz of Norway not long ago. Although it is currently owned by a trust that is attempting to develop it into a tourist destination, very recently it was owned and operated by the Norwegian prison system. The grounds served as a place where offenders completed the last portion of their sentences before re-integrating into society. There was little security on the island and people could move around out-of-doors. Apparently several people did swim the short distance to land and escape, but from an American perspective, escape attempts were surprisingly infrequent.
