En el siglo IX , Alfonso V (El Noble) mandó reconstruir el Castellum Honesti para poder frenar las incursiones de los normandos y de los sarracenos hacia la ciudad de Santiago en la isla de Oneste. Fue este topónimo el que más tarde derivaría en “Oeste”
Aquí comienza la historia de las heróicas resistencias y grandes victorias y derrotas sobre los vikingos.
A partir del siglo XVI fue perdiendo su valor estratégico y por lo tanto paulatinamente abandonado..

Qurna is an abandoned village about 100m to the east of the Temple of Seti I. Until the early 19th century the community included at least parts of the Temple of Seti I. Several travellers, including Richard Pococke or Sonnini de Manoncourt even name a Sheikh of Qurna. Edward William Lane relates in 1825 that the village was abandoned and not a single inhabitant lived there. Comments by Isabella Frances Romer suggests that the resettling started in the late 1840s. Hassan Fathy alleges that the inhabitants of Qurna lived in poverty and thus were robbing ancient tombs as means of subsistence. In order to stop the looting the Department of Antiquities expropriated the land on which the Qurnis lived and decided to move them to a new settlement, to be designed and built by Hassan Fathy himself. New Qurna was built in the 1940s and early 1950 to house the then residents who strongly resisted the move.

Aunque tienen origen romano,fue en el siglo IX cuando Alfonso V El Noble mandó reconstruir el Castellum Honesti, para poder frenar las incursiones de los normandos y de los sarracenos hacia la ciudad de Santiago, en la isla de Oneste.Aquí comienza la historia de las heróicas resistencias y grandes victorias y derrotas sobre los vikingos. Aquí mismo fue encontrado el Crismón de la Victoria que se conserva en el museo de Pontevedra. A partir del siglo XVI fue perdiendo su valor estratégico y por lo tanto paulatinamente abandonado.El recinto constaba de siete grandes torres situadas a ambos lados del río que vigiliban y cerraban con una gruesa cadena el paso de los vikingos y piratas Estas formaban parte de un conjunto amurallado de forma elíptica. Una de las torres, la más alta, era llamada Torre de Lugo debido a que fue esta ciudad la que costeó esta construcción. Dentro de las murallas esta la capilla de Santiago. Hoy en día, además de esta capilla, se conservan restos de dos grandes torres, diversas estancias y los restos reconstruídos de las murallas defensivas.
El primer domingo de Agosto se celebra en este lugar la llamada "Romería Vikinga", fiesta declarada Fiesta de Interés Turístico Internacional

HFF! Praia da Galé (Oeste) Beach is an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. Praia da Galé Oeste beach lies just in front of a dune and it has a generously wide area of fine sand, plus good bathing conditions.
Al parecer, éste es un ejemplar temprano de la Amanita muscaria, o Matamosca (debido a sus propiedades insecticidas por la muscarina que contiene). Esta seta aunque no mortal, puede generar alteraciones neurológicas y gastrointestinales (también alucinógenas). No se observaron gnomos en los alrededores.
