In the 9th century, Alfonso V (the Nobleman) ordered the rebuilding of the Castellum Honesti in order to stop the incursions of the Normans and the Saracens towards the city of Santiago on the island of Oneste. It was this toponym that would later derive in Oeste "West"

Here begins the story of heroic resistance and great victories and defeats over the Vikings.

From the 16th century it lost its strategic value and therefore gradually abandoned.

The Chapel of Santiago built attached to one of the towers belongs to the 12th century.

Saint-Jorioz is a town in Haute-Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region, about ten kilometers south of Annecy.

Composed of many villages, the town that lived until then from agriculture and fishing became industrialized with the establishment of tileries that did not cease their activity until 1953. Meanwhile, Saint-Jorioz which belonged to the Duchy of Savoy has been attached to France in 1860.

Its beach, its port, its leisure linked to its preserved environment make Saint-Jorioz, which belongs to the Massif des Bauges Regional Natural Park, a step or a popular tourist destination.

Take a look in my album Gothenburg !

Gothenburg was founded as a heavily fortified, primarily Dutch, trading colony in 1621. In addition to the generous privileges (e.g. tax relaxation) given to his Dutch allies from the then-ongoing Thirty Years`War, the king also attracted significant numbers of his German and Scottish allies to populate his only town on the western coast. At a key strategic location at the mouth of the river Göta älv, where Scandinavia's largest drainage basin enters the sea, the Port of Gothenburg is now the largest port in the Nordic countries

Gothenburg is home to many students, as the city includes the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. Volvo was founded in Gothenburg in 1927. Other key companies are SKF and Astra Zeneca.

The fortress Skansen Lejonet (built 1687-1693) and its twin tower Skansen Kronan (built 1687-1700) were built to protect the city of Gothenburg against possible Danish attack, and thus had a similar purpose to the seafort New Älvsborg, which was built around the same time.

The Mortuary Temple of Ramses III, from the site of Medinet Habu, is an important structure from the New Kingdom period in the Necropolis of Thebes in Luxor, Egypt. In addition to its size and architectural and artistic importance, the temple is known for the reliefs that surround the advent and for being a protagonist in the defeat of the peoples of the sea during the reign of Ramesses III.

The temple, some 150 meters long, is of Orthodox design and closely resembles the nearby mortuary temple of Ramesses II (Ramesseum). The temple precinct measures approximately 210 m by 300 m and contains over 7,000 m² of decorated wall reliefs.

The Irati forest or jungle (Iratiko oihana in Basque) is a forest distributed between the north of Navarra (Spain) and the Atlantic Pyrenees (Sola and Lower Navarra) in southwestern France.

For its Spanish part, it is located in the valley of the Irati river, between the Orzanzurieta and Roncesvalles mountains to the west, and the Orhi mountain to the east. The southern limit is set by the imposing mass of the Sierra de Abodi. The main accesses are to the west through Orbaiceta (Valle de Aézcoa) and to the east through Ochagavía (Valle de Salazar).

It is the largest forest mass in Navarra and one of the largest and best preserved beech (Fagus sylvatica) and fir (Abies alba) forests in all of Europe. Despite being a forest exploited by forestry since the 16th-17th centuries, the respect and good work of the inhabitants of these valleys has made it fully preserved. There are several protected areas within the area: the entire Irati is a ZEPA (Special Bird Protection Area), as well as protected areas such as Natural Reserve or Integral Reserve of the total 17,000 ha of forest.

The Wangfujing snack street, located in hutongs just west of the main street, is densely packed with restaurants and street food stalls. The food stalls serves a wide variety of common and exotic street food. More common fare such as chuanr (meat kebabs, commonly made of lamb) and desserts, such as tanghulu or candied fruits on a stick, are among the most popular.

Further north and perpendicular to Wangfujing is Donghuamen Street, which has a night food market of its own.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wangfujing

The north end of the pedestrian mall heats up in late afternoon and evening for the night food market. Dozens of food stands sell everything from fried scorpion and snake kebobs to the less exotic pork and chicken kebobs, dumplings (pot stickers) fruit and congees (bean puddings). Wandering from stand to stand, it's possible to put together a fun and inexpensive meal.

The Line 1 subway stops at the south end of Wangfujing Street.

While Wangfujing snack street is worth a visit for the mandatory "look I'm eating a on a stick"-photo, and it is a great place to get souvenirs, it is also a hotbed for food poisoning and not-really-authentically-Chinese snacks. Chinese people don't really eat scorpions on a stick, unless they're not from Beijing and also on holiday here.

You'd be much better off getting stuck in and trying these genuine Beijing-style street snacks. You'll find them sold off carts by the side of the street throughout the entire city, you shouldn't have to look too hard, they tend to gather around tourist destinations too.
