Award for The Blind Pig Speakeasy Challenge - Oddities: www.flickr.com/groups/photopigs/discuss/72157657491523663/
An oddity can be anything that is eccentric or out of the ordinary. For this challenge, the subject matter is wide open. Entries can also be humorous or macabre or simply strange. But something about the image should make us say, "Wow! That's odd!"
Open from 10/15 through 11/14!
My first clumsy attempts at ICM, taken in April '22 at the Mauerweg / TV Asahi Kirschblütenallee in Teltow near Berlin. In fact, the Brandenburg small town Teltow is part of the Berlin agglomeration, and the Berlin borough of Lichterfelde and Teltow blend "seamlessly", the yellow city limits sign (and the different-looking street signs) being the only evidence that one is leaving the city. The Mauerweg ("Wall Path") between Berlin and Teltow marks the route of the Berlin Wall on West Berlin's external border. Nowadays, it's a simple path between Berlin and the surrounding federal state of Brandenburg.
One part of the Mauerweg is also known as the TV Asahi Kirschblütenallee ("TV Asahi Cherry Blossom Alley"). Back in 1990, the Japanese TV channel TV Asahi initiated the "Sakura fundraising campaign" to celebrate the German Reunification. TV Asahi's viewers donated about 1 million Euros that were used to plant Japanese cherry trees. The cherry trees were supposed to "bring peace and tranquility to the people's hearts" (Tetsuo Terasaki, the initiator of Sakura Campaign), and they were planted in Berlin and Brandenburg at places that played a special role during the division of Germany. You may wonder why you can't see any cherry blossoms on these trees. Well, believe it or not, last year we've been three times to Teltow in order to photograph cherry blossoms, but only on our third visit the cherry blossom had finally started. And this photo was taken during our second visit, a time when the cherry blossom had already started in Berlin, but obviously, the few degrees less in the more rural part of Teltow and the Mauerweg were enough to delay the blossom. Quite an odyssey ;)
I don't recall if I've used the Oly's in-camera "Live ND Filter" for this photo or my variable ND filter that I'd brought along. All I recall is that I thought "Damn, this isn't easy at all!". I need to practice ICM more in order to achieve better results – skill comes with practice, after all, and I definitely haven't practiced this technique enough, yet.
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone!

This image featured a departure from my usual MO, in the interest of producing my usual aesthetic while preserving more details. If you're interested in seeing the raw shots, plural, you can find them on my blog as usual.
I have always wondered how these rocks get this blue coloring. Anybody out there in Flickrland know? I'm thinking it's probably a chemical reaction between the ocean water and something in the rock; maybe copper.
At my favorite place on the California coast, Pescadero State Beach, between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, California.
A scene from a hike up in the Berkeley Hills. An oddity, for sure. Not really in space, but perhaps seeming to be?
sometimes there is no accounting for your neighbor's taste in their home design! ...honestly you would think it's for the birds!
This is my first public photo taken with a Sony A7rm3. Quite different from my Canon 7D Markii in the handling, resolution and processing results. We begin the journey.

Crescent moon
Beyond bizarre
Crested lune
It's reach is far
Silence echoed
Is all it knows
A jagged home
It floats alone
Silhouette of dusted light
Faintly shining, Faintly bright
Removed of fear, Eloquent
Bruised idea, Adamant
Dimly lit it holds my key
Spacely odded entity

NGG16 129 returns from a rare run to Gembrook, passing through the outskirts of town on its way towards Cockatoo, heading back to Belgrave, on Anzac Day.
It is very rare to see a Garret locomotive operate on the Lakeside to Gembrook line, with the last time one took paying passengers down that way being around 15 years ago with G42!
How this old camera the Sony DSc h50 with night shot gave this gal a bouffant hair do is beyond me. Her hair was pulled back and flat so this is pretty funny . There is a night shot switch at the top. Of the camera which I used when we were invited to see the basement. Which of course we accepted. It was very eerie and creepy and the brick wall behind the lady had black drippy looking stains. We were told it was a Wells Fargo stagecoach stop and anyone that stole money was lined against the wall and shot. The waitress that gave us access seemed extremely nervous and wanted to get out of there And was fidgety.
