Sometimes we have obstacles placed in our path and how we choose to deal with them can define who we are. I am so relaxed with a situation like this. Just sit back and enjoy the interlude.

This is "Fancy Pants" from last weekend. After takeoff it put on an aerobatic show for me, weaving around trees and dodging cliff outcrops. Looked like a joyride, but was probably looking for rodents.

On the beach of Petten, you can find this obstacle run ;)
These poles have been placed as a monument, reminding us all of the old village of Petten. This village was washed away by a major storm hundres of years ago.

As some of you know. I have been without a camera for some time now... each time I would think I was going to choose that next baby. A financial obstacle would always get in the way.
Awhile ago... a fellow Flickr friend made an incredibly generous offer to give me his old camera to use. Free of charge, no strings attached... at the time, I had politely declined. The offer alone was enough to bring a tear to my eyes.
"You are a sweetie Brent"
I eventually decided to take him up on this wonderful offer... the camera arrived this past weekend. (and) I have a series of shots I did Sunday that I will post this week.
But first, I wanted to start my new Flickr life with a few photos featuring the camera itself... some of you may recognize it. Please check out his photostream. Brent and the rest of the gang in Winnipeg are quite special people.

As for my financial situation... things are much smoother now and I even have a camera I've been thinking about. But, right now, more than anything, I want to thank Brent for making it possible for me to get an early start on this.

The "Jungle at the Gates of the City" is a forest reserve, located in the immediate vicinity of Saarbrücken, the capital of the German state of Saarland. Since about 20 years, no trees have been felled here and nature can develop freely without the intervention of man.
I had to overcome many obstacles of this kind because, true to the concept, nothing is cleared out of the way.
Her job is to overcome musical obstacles, mine is to find clear paths free of obstacles (sometimes it can be tricky!)

One thing I will take away from my trip to Skye is the fact that the Island can be overwhelming as a photographer. With so many photographic opportunities it can be hard to make the most of your trip. Locations take much longer to get to than you would expect and the weather can change in the blink of an eye. Forcing myself to go out when it was pouring down just so that if the rain stopped I would be ready was by far the best solution. And yes, even though I did spend a few hours sat in my car or marching through the rain in full wet weather gear, it was totally worth it. Research, plan and organise. Maybe leave the Converse at home too!
