Overlooking Bleaberry Tarn below Red Pike Buttermere. Hot Shots

Erzherzog Albrecht / Albertina / Vienna

This image was taken through a window of a coffee shop in Times Square in New York. The result is the third frame in a three-frame quick-capture as I walked past. I was looking to capture strong colours but I ended up with this looking into the coffee shop from the street..

I am not sure what the various encounters in the image are or what the people are thinking but the busy nature of the scene caught my eye at the time. It does seem that even though everyone in the image appears isolated that the window's glass and the light from the background brings them all into a group collage of some kind.

This happens with the people that are indoors as well as outdoors depending on what part of the reflection and window glass they are. I suppose most urban environments are alike in that everyone blends into the scene in some way.

I noticed that the intimate-looking scene that is captured in the center of the image is telling. The crowd seems to provide some privacy but it can't hide everything. At every turn there is an observer.

My camera is an accidental one that happens to have a fast shutter, but there are people in the coffee shop that appear to be looking on as well. I suppose that all street photography is intrusive in this way, no matter if the observation was accidental or not.

The image is direct from the camera except for an adjustment for saturation. I hope you like the result.

"Observers" Pretty sweet situation going on right there. Many people maintain that the sheep has saved the Icelandic nation from extermination through the rugged centuries. The sheep was one of the most important animals in the country, and was a source both for food and for clothes. Even the bones and manure was utilised.

a massive stormcell moves in over pipeline...

very few people on the beach as the north shore was being ravaged by rain squalls, leaving only a few brave spectators to watch the even fewer (and braver) surfers out in the water.
