Nene Valley Railway heritage railway, the main station at Wansford. Opened in 1845 this acted for many years at the railhead for the Great North Road round here.

Coming into Wansford and my thanks to the NVR staff who let me sit in the corner of the box for a bit - really interesting to watch the signalling work also.

34081 92 Squadron works the second service of the day to Peterborough NVR on there Halloween weekend.
Out for a bike ride into town today and manged to arrive just in time for one of Nene Valley Railways brilliant steam engines at Orton Mere. Pleased to see it smoking with a few suitably placed clouds in the background.
A grey day made brighter by the platform floral display at Wansford station. The old station building on platform three was built by the Northampton and Peterborough Railway in 1844/5 for the opening of the line in a Jacobean style with ornate stone masonry. It was finally purchased by the Nene Valley Railway in 2015 but still needs a lot of work.
1958-vintage Swedish Railcar Y7 No 1212 in original orange and yellow livery looks a bit out of place but the line has built up a collection of continental rolling stock

The "Boston Bucket Bash" - a photocharter at the NVR with 3913 masquerading as 68018 and 75006 as 68070, two Boston based J94s. Both suitably weathered the Wagon Group put on a great charter with some great photo opportunities. Nice to see some realistic weathered locos with freight for a change!
