This cut-leaf beech was, and still is, my favourite tree in our local park. I've taken many pictures of it in the past, when its beautiful boughs almost touched the ground, making a splendid shape.
Recently, the 'Management' decided to cut off the lower branches, drastically reducing its magnificence and majesty. They will never, ever grow back. This is what is left. Still beautiful, still majestic, in all its autumnal glory. But .... it just isn't 'right' now. Many feel so sad - and remember the way it used to be, before they injured it.
One of only two cut-leaf beeches in the park.

durante queste ultime settimane mi sono impegnata a riordinare i molti scatti fatti in passato …
quando tra mille chiavette usb mi sono imbattuta nella cartella dedicata alla Provenza non c’è stato nulla da fare … mi ha assalito una profonda nostalgia...
li ho lasciato un pezzetto del mio cuore ...
i campi di lavanda, immense distese viola che si alternano al giallo infinito dei girasoli , il sole caldo mentre il mistral soffia da nord , il canto assordante delle cicale , le passeggiate al tramonto in mezzo alle vigne , il pastis prima di cena nel bistrot di Ménerbes e il mas dove abbiamo trascorso una settimana incantevole ….

E' un sentimento così opprimente e talmente bello, talmente comune e così lacerante che conoscerne l'origine, rendersi conto per un attimo di quanto sia universale, di quanto sia antica la parola che lo descrive, forse ci può avvicinare un po' di più gli uni agli altri.

p.s. A Venezia si vedono le stelle ... non so se per una fortunata coincidenza, magari climatica, o se è sempre così...
