La Nit de l'Albà en valenciano, o Noche de la Alborada en castellano, es un acto festivo realizado en la ciudad española de Elche, (Comunidad Valenciana) con motivo de las fiestas patronales de la ciudad, en honor a la Virgen de la Asunción. Se celebra el dÃa 13 de agosto.
La Nit de l'Albà en Elche.A las 23:00 de la noche, los ilicitanos disparan continuamente fuegos artificiales desde las terrazas de los edificios, creando un espectáculo pirotécnico sin igual. Esta tradición, que se remonta a la Edad Media, era en su origen un modo que tenÃan las familias de agradecer a la Virgen los hijos que habÃan tenido (lanzando un cohete por cada hijo).
A las 23:55, el Ayuntamiento corta el suministro eléctrico del centro de la ciudad, para crear la total oscuridad. Un par de minutos después comienza a sonar, envuelto en esta oscuridad, el Himno de la Coronación, del Misterio de Elche, y a las 00:00, se lanza desde la basÃlica de Santa MarÃa una palmera de cohetes (varios miles de ellos), que ascienden unos 300 metros y se despliegan en un radio de 600 metros, iluminando gran parte de la ciudad, como si fuera de dÃa. De ahà viene el nombre: La Noche del Amanecer. La luminosidad se mantiene alrededor de un minuto, y seguidamente, desde la torre de la basÃlica, se muestra una imagen de la Virgen de la Asunción realizada con bengalas, mientras suena la habanera Aromas Ilicitanos (himno extraoficial de Elche) por unos altavoces de gran potencia. The Nit de l'Alba in Valencian, or Night of Alborada in Castilian, is a festive event held in the Spanish city of Elche (Valencia) during the festival patron of the city in honor of the Virgin Asunción. Held on August 13.
The Nit de l'alba Elche.A at 23:00 at night, the Elche continuously shoot fireworks from the terraces of the buildings, creating a fireworks display like no other. This tradition, dating back to the Middle Ages, was originally a way that the families had to thank the Virgin that had children (launching a rocket from each child).
At 23:55, the City Council cut the electricity supply to the city center, to create the total darkness.
