Metra UP West Line train 65, carrying commuters from Chicago, approaches a crossing in downtown Wheaton. I took this photo, in case you're wondering, standing on a sidewalk in a perfectly safe and legal place ... which isn't necessarily always the case when I take train photos :) Thanks for viewing! Take care and be safe :)

I have tried to meet up with the captain of this rust bucket several nights in a row, but as the trawler's name implies he's movin' at night. Wonder what songs he's hummin' from 1962.......

Bob Seger's "Night Moves"

Enjoy!

Harvest is in full swing finally in our area as most of the soybeans are now out.Harvesting corn is much more labor intensive and more time consuming as well. In our area, the big rains in August slowed down the maturation of the corn, keeping it wet so we will have big bills this fall drying it down for proper storage. Exactly the opposite of last year when a late summer drought killed it off early. It goes to show, you can't predict mother nature!

Soybean harvest is in full swing in our area of northwestern Illinois. It is a dusty, dirty job not real conducive for doing at night.Soybean yields were negatively affected by the drought we had in August, nevertheless they were better than we expected.

Acueducto de Segovia

It was built around the first century AD to channel water from springs in the mountains 17 kilometres (11 mi) away to the Roman city's fountains, public baths and private houses, and was in use until 1973. At Plaza de Díaz Sanz, the structure makes an abrupt turn and heads toward Plaza Azoguejo. It is there the monument begins to display its full splendor. At its tallest, the aqueduct reaches a height of 28.5 m (93 ft 6 in)

The White house Barn, and it's newly refurbished neon. Will make any President proud, but they don't server ice cream...

Late night on E Broughton St. Savannah GA

Brooklyn Heights, view of lower Manhattan and Battery park. How much changes, but something's remain the same.

Historic tidbit: It was in this area in the cover of night, and fog on Aug 29 1776 where the Continental army under G. Washington retreated to Manhattan from the defeat of the Battle of Brooklyn Heights, with out a loss of man, or importantly cannons. All types of sail ship's and rowboats came to assist the evacuation (Americans Dunkirk) in a way. It was the third engagement and first loss to British troops after the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4 1776.

Freedom finally comes September 3, 1783

In the NY groove, I love my town at night. Amazing how much has changed over the years. But to much building up is sadly hiding the classic skyscapers from view..

Old world French dining. Fantastique !! Neon ain't bad either.

Standing on the corner. Old Corner delicatessen from the days when pastrami was king in Lower Manhattan. Now a Tacoria called La Esquina and not bad at all..

Fourty duce, looking west. Background lights on distance is Time Sq., and the alway classic art deco Chrysler Bld with her crown lit up majestically. A rareity no traffic...

Puente de Alcántara, en su esplendor vespertino

Alcántara Bridge, also known as Trajan's Bridge at Alcantara. Is a Roman bridge at Alcántara, in Extremadura, Spain. Alcántara is from the Arabic word al-Qantarah meaning "the arch". The stone arch bridge was built over the Tagus River between 104 and 106 AD by an order of the Roman emperor Trajan.

Early evening on Broome St, and yes it's a mural of Audrey Hepburn, true grace and beauty

Are you in for a tip? Stay with me for a sec. It’s been a great winter so far in my opinion and we had enough snow and ice here in Chicago to get some great shots. In one of my previous posts I covered one way to shoot the snow. My second tip is to shoot the snow at a high shutter speed even in low light conditions. To get a higher shutter speed I usually crank up my ISO settings sometimes even up to 6400. My camera is pretty good even at that ISO settings and chances are great that yours will be too. Don’t be afraid to shoot like that because the snow will register as grain in the camera too and you will not be able to distinguish those two in the final result. What do you think?

Just love that line, it's a true classic..

I posted this image earlier today but my daughter (Miss 18, aka Miss Tik Tok) contacted me to say that it was a horrible image that was much too dark. She could not see a thing!! SO I have lightened the image with extra exposure and other tricks in Adobe Lightroom.

She also condemned my chosen soundtrack ('Night Moves' by Bob Seger) saying that it was "ancient history" and "no one listens to that anymore".

Hmm, so, in defiance, here it is again: 'Night Moves' by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (1976), lol.

Irish owned and operated for 100 years, the Dublin House neon harp was often the first thing sailors docking at 79th Street Boat Basin saw. Opened during the Prohibition era of the 1920s, Dublin House has remained a landmark and a true Irish Pub.

Caught this lost and weathered clown on 5th Ave & 19th St, with Cell phone. Seems he had a rough audience.

One, and only remaining reason why I lov my NYC. Though it has changed quite a bit over the years it's still fun to walk the streets.
