I must make one thing clear:

This somewhat „plastiline look" is created by the Tamron™ Twin-Tele lens and the late afternoon lighting conditions and is not (!) the result of any sophisticated image processing manipulations 😛

Pure raw development, nothing else.

Any credit goes to this fabulous lens. I love it and use it far too rarely 😎

Reine Raw-Entwicklung, nix sonst.

Aquilegia vulgaris is a species of columbine native to Europe with common names that include: European columbine, common columbine, granny's nightcap, and granny's bonnet. It is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant growing to 1.2 m tall, with branched, thinly hairy stems. The leaves are biternate; each leaf has three groups of three leaflets. The flowers, in various shades of purple, blue, pink and white, are pendent or horizontal with strongly hooked spurs, and appear in early summer.

In traditional herbalism columbine was considered sacred to Venus; carrying a posy of it was said to arouse the affections of a loved one.

SCOUT: "Oh Monsieur Charles! I am soooo excited that I am to be a model for Daddy to paint!" *Trembles with excitement. "And I love that I get to wear my Little Red Riding Hood too! You must be excited too!"

MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Oh I am, dear Scout. Now, promise me that even though I am playing the Big Bad Wolf disguised as Grandmamma, you know that I won't really eat you, dear Scout."

SCOUT: "Oh I know that now, Monsieur Charles! Thank you for checking in with me though."

PADDY: *Steps onto bed and clears throat.* "Ahem!"

SCOUT and MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Hullo Paddy!"

PADDY: "Hullo you two. How are you feeling about being Daddy's models?"

MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Well, I'm a bit nervous, but I hope I will be suitable for Daddy."

PADDY: "You will do a splendid job, Monsieur Charles!" *Assuring.* "And what about you, Scout?"

SCOUT: "Oh I am ready, Paddy and I take my role as model for Daddy very seriously!" *Nods emphatically.*

PADDY: "And you'll have to sit still for a little while, Scout, and not move. Can you do that?"

SCOUT: "Oh yes, Paddy! I will sit very still for Daddy!" *Nods seriously.*

PADDY: "Well, I'm glad to hear that. Now, since Daddy is going to paint you, he has instructed me to direct you as we need you both to look as much like the painting he is trying to emulate the style of. So, Monsieur Charles,"

MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Yes Paddy?"

PADDY: "That means you will need to take the glasses off your muzzle and put them on the counterpane in front of you."

MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Yes Paddy."

SCOUT: "But Paddy, the faerie tale of Little Red Riding Hood it specifically says that the Big Bad Wolf got dressed in Grandmamma's nightdress and nightcap and put on her glasses."

PADDY: "I know, Scout, but the painting has them on the counterpane."

MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Besides, Scout, I don't have a nightgown on either."

PADDY: "Well that doesn't matter, Monsieur Charles, as it is only your head and paws poking out from your nightcap and over the top of the counterpane that Daddy will be painting."

SCOUT: *Looks at Monsieur Charles.* "Does that mean you are..." *Lowers voice.* "Nakid..." *Gasps. "Beneath the bedclothes Monsieur Charles?"

MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Well, yes, dear Scout."

SCOUT: *Gasps again.* "Nakid is naughty, Monsieur Charles!"

PADDY: "Really Scout, it doesn't matter. Now, as for you, Scout, Little Red Riding Hood is not holding Dolly, so she can't be in the portrait."

SCOUT: "Oh." *Looks lovingly at Dolly.* "Alright Paddy. I will sacrifice holding her for the sake of art, Paddy." *Nods seriously again.*

PADDY: "Good boy, dear Scout."

SCOUT: "Will you hold Dolly and cuddle her whilst Daddy is painting my picture?"

PADDY: "Of course I will, Scout. She can sit in my lap and watch you the whole time."

SCOUT: "Oh! I would like that, Paddy, and I know Dolly would like it too." *Kisses Dolly lovingly and hands her to Paddy.*

MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Is there anything else, Paddy?"

PADDY: "No, I think that's about right. What did you think, Daddy?"

DADDY: "I think you look perfect, Scout and Monsieur Charles! You both fit the bill in relation to the characters, admirably."

SCOUT and MONSIEUR CHARLES: "Thank you, Daddy!"

DADDY: "And thank you Paddy, for making sure that everything is just right."

PADDY: "You are welcome, Daddy!" *Climbs down from the bed.*

SCOUT: *Turns back to Monsieur Charles.* "I can't believe that you are nakid under there, Monsieur Charles!" *Aghast.*

The theme for Smile on Saturday this week is "in the style of", where I have to create an image in the style of an artist of my choice. I have the artist and the painting, which is of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. I now have two very willing models in Monsieur Charles as the Bog Bad Wolf and little Scout as Little Red Riding Hood in his new cape from Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear. If you would like to see the final results, come back on Saturday, and all will be revealed!

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.

Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.

Charles the Wolf (Le Loup Charles) has been hand made by the French toy manufacturer Moulin Roty and comes from their "l était une fois" ("Once Upon a Time") collection. He wears a removable purple coat with a black furry trim and smart fur lined boots. He also has a big mouth and sharp teeth - all the better to eat you with, my dear!

Ello darlings! I thought I'd put a nice furniture post together for you guys. We can all use a nice relaxing nightcap every now and then, don't you agree? A nice glass of wine or champagne, some tasty foods, and good company always hit the spot. I hope you enjoy this cozy little space I put together.

Happy shopping! xoxo

A finger or so of Basil Hayden's Bourbon

Taken with NightCap Pro

A nightcap is a drink taken shortly before bedtime. For example, a small alcoholic drink or glass of milk can supposedly promote a good night's sleep.

Personally I prefer to mix them a pint of milk with a large dark rum.
