are quite piercing, and look through you instead of at you! The time I spent photographing this owlet has been a highlight of my photography year thus far. It truly was a magical experience. The owlets (there were two) are now fully fledged and spend their days high up in the trees with Mom and Dad still watching over. The photo ops that were available three weeks ago when this shot was taken are now long gone. I was very happy to get the shots when I did, and this is the last owlet image that I will be posting. It may be my favorite. The Great Horned Owlets of the Palmyra Cove ~ View large for best experience.

Thanks for all the views, favs, and comments. Much appreciated~!

Little blue heron, looking pretty. Seen at the Ocean City Rookery. There usually aren't that many of them there, they are always a treat.

This is one of the many very unique buildings on the Princeton university campus in Princeton, New Jersey. Some of the buildings reminded me of structures from the Harry Potter movies. The campus was very scenic and inspired me to take a few photos!

️ Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ is more than a seaside landmark—it's a living monument to the city's golden age and its enduring cultural pulse.

📜 Origins and Architecture

• Built between 1928–1930, Convention Hall was designed by Warren & Wetmore, the same architectural firm behind Grand Central Terminal in NYC.

• It was part of a broader civic vision to elevate Asbury Park as the “Queen of the Jersey Shore,” blending Beaux-Arts elegance with coastal charm.

• The hall is connected to the Paramount Theater via a grand arcade that spans the boardwalk, creating a unified entertainment complex.

📻 Early Milestones

• In 1931, radio station WCAP (later WJLK) began broadcasting from the second-floor promenade, making Convention Hall a media hub.

• In 1934, the burning cruise ship SS Morro Castle drifted ashore and settled just yards from the hall—a haunting moment etched into local lore.

🎸 Rock & Roll Royalty

• From the 1960s to the 1990s, Convention Hall hosted a staggering lineup of music legends:

• The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Janis Joplin, The Who, Pink Floyd, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, and many more.

• It became the largest venue in the region during this era, drawing fans from across the Northeast.

️ Preservation and Revival

• Unlike many historic buildings in Asbury Park, Convention Hall was renovated rather than demolished, preserving its architectural integrity.

• In the 2000s, it saw a resurgence alongside the revitalization of Asbury Park itself, once again hosting concerts, festivals, and civic events.
