Can you believe it? It's been almost 15 years since I bought the Cobalt. Nicknamed "Duchess," she was a great car, right up to the end. I never had any major issues with her - only minor annoying things that I either fixed with performance parts or (starting the last few years) tended to ignore.

But shockingly, Zoe will be 16 in just six short years! While she'll probably get Victoria's car to start with, I wanted her to have something she could maybe take to college if she wanted (if she goes - college ain't what it used to be). I'm not sure this is the best thing, but in the meantime it sure will be fun for me to drive.

In some ways it's a step up over the Cobalt, but in a very real way it's just a fifteen year newer replacement - a boosted, forced-induction, 'roided out version of an ordinary compact econobox with a fancy badge on the back.

I got red because I hate driving bland cars. Probably a detriment when the revolution occurs, but it could fit a small gunrack in the hatch.

I picked up my new car yesterday, a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek. It's got so many buttons, switches and gadgets it'll take me a while to figure them all out, but so far I love it!

Took delivery this week. It uses the previous generation (2006-2012) Clio platform and this one has the 1149cc engine. It drives smoothly and the space, front, rear and boot is quite generous. 0 to 60 may be the same as the AC Invalid car but I'm not likely to meet one at the lights. No, they are not Poundland wheel trims. I'm impressed (it's only been 5 days) so far for a £6,695 car.
