Neuron sculpture gracing the front lawn of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney (Wed 16-6-2010).

i was invited to submit a cover illustration for a friend's paper which will be published in Neuron Magazine, a science journal. HI paper is about an experiment he did which shows that when given a photo of a person and told it is a democrat, the subject (if they are also a dem) will use the same region of his brain to think about that photo as if he were thinking about themselves. but if they are told the person is a republican, they will use a different part of their brain.

 

i tried to make an illustration that would reference the study, suggest red vs. blue while (hopefully) staying subtle, and would also look slightly sophisitcated. enough so to be on a science journal.

 

i hope the editors like it!
