MC Frontalot recently did his first UK tour, supporting Wheatus. He was nice enough to meet me one evening and let me take some photos. Originally I'd wanted to do something involving old video games consoles, but I found I was imagining heroic poses more and more. So that's what we did: climbed onto the office roof and ran through 3 or 4 different setups. You can see the other pictures on my website.

Strobist info: Three lights. One key light through a translucent umbrella at camera left, just out of shot pointing at Front's face. Two other lights were at camera left and camera right, about 45° behind the subject, with gobos to control the spill.

For all of the Browncoats out there, check this bad boy out! Created exclusively for Cyn Factory’s Firefly burlesque/nerdcore show — The Serenity Spectacular — I’ve made a miniature LEGO model of the Serenity ship! One lucky fan will have the chance to potentially win this as a trivia/raffle prize, so if you’re in the New York area, mosey on by to The Bell House in Brooklyn and see this jolly good show for yourself!

This is my first, and currently only, Flickr photo with more than 5,000 views. Photographically, it’s nothing to write home about, but after sitting on Flickr largely unviewed for months, it one day happened to catch the attention of New York Times food writer Mark Bittman, who tweeted it.

Postings followed at Neatorama, Blogs.ScienceForums.net, theDailyWh.at (part of the Cheezburger network), and the German site NerdCore (at crackajack.de). On one day alone there were more than 2,000 views.

As far as I can tell, I'm the first person to have made and posted photographs of Möbius strip-shaped pasta. Geeks, scientists, and nerdy foodies around the world are enjoying the idea. (Only I enjoyed the meal, however.)

This is a hand drawn dungeon map for the Dungeons and Dragons game. It is drawn in pencil on a sheet of 10 squares per inch, 8.5x11" graph paper. I found it stuck in the back of a binder while I was packing to move the other day. Looks like I drew it around 1994.

Thanks friends!

That's me and MC Frontalot, frontin' at PAX 2007. You can see the side of my friend Andrew's head in the background. He's not fronting as much as we are, but he does most of his frontin' on the inside, yo.

New spex courtesy of MC Frontalot's goodie table at PAX. I got the very last pair he had. Now I'm totally sportin' the nerdcore look. ;)
