On 23 May 1991, 43082 passes Chester-le-Street on the 1530 Kings Cross - Newcastle.

On 23 November 1991, 156438 passes Greatham on the 1000 Middlesbrough - Newcastle. The station officially closed on 25 November but this was the last day that trains called.

On 23 August 21992, 47572 passes Newcastle on a pway.

An interesting view of 37114 from the top of the Castle Keep at Newcatle as it passes on 6E46 Fort William - Tyne Alcan empty tanks. This was a Saturday and the train would recess at Tyne Yard until the Monday.

Class 91s running light are not a common sight; on 23 January 1999 we see 91012 at Newcastle for reasons unknown.

On 23 September 1997, 91012 passes Colton Junction on the 1330 Kings Cross - Newcastle.

On 23 August 1992, 90023 passes Newcastle, running light.

For a short time in the mid-90s, 86s regularly appeared at Newcastle on postal trains. One interesting working was 1E24 Edinburgh - Kings Cross postal, which attached a "tail" loco at Newcastle. Here we see 86208 arriving to take up this duty on the last day this train was loco-hauled, 23 September 1996. After this, it went over to 325s.
