nature provides beautiful emotions; the transparency of the water, the flowers that mingle in the water, the herbs that tangle with the shadows to form a delicate moment.

Climate scientists swear there's nowhere drier than Chile's little-known Atacama Desert and in particular the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountains). It was formed million of years ago. It was an old lake, which bottom went raising by the same movements of the terrestrial coast which gave origin to the Andes Mountains.
The main attraction of Lake Seliger is nature. .This is one of the most beautiful lakes in Russia, located on the territory of the Tver and Novgorod regions, roughly in the middle between Moscow and St. Petersburg (360 km from Moscow and 480 km from St. Petersburg). The largest city on Seliger is Ostashkov (22 thousand people). Other large cities are Peno, Selizharovo.
Lake Seliger is located on the Valdai Upland at an altitude of 205 meters above sea level. The coastline is very quaintly rugged and, for the most part, covered with coniferous and mixed forest. The area is 260 square meters. km (according to the Seliger area in the twenty largest lakes of Russia), the average depth is 5-6 meters, the maximum is 24 meters. There are a lot of islands on the lake, mostly small ones, but there are also two large ones - Khachin and Gorodomlya. Lake Seliger has a maximum size of 70 km from north to south and 40 km from east to west. According to the origin of Seliger glacial lake, formed 70-11 thousand years ago. Not far from here at the village. Volgoverkhovie. is the source of the Volga River. There are many islands on Seliger, the largest of them are Khachin and Gorodomlya.
The climate and nature of Seliger are typical for the middle zone of Russia. Hunting and fishing are widespread here. Of animals in the vicinity of Seliger there are moose, wild boar, wolf, bear, fox, hare, squirrel, marten, beavers. Of birds, a duck, capercaillie, woodcock, hazel grouse, heron, crane, gull. In Seliger and the surrounding lakes, eel, pike perch, pike, perch, burbot, ruff, bream, tench, roach, rudd, bleat are caught.
CHARMING well-marked little finch, seen only in our area a few times during the winter, when alder trees are leafless, and the seed heads are up for grabs. Seeing then up high in the trees twittering to each other, is a real joy, but a real photography challenge, as they move so fast. and their heads are always buried in the seed heads! . When the seeds are gone so are the Siskins. The males have a black head like above, and absent in females, seen in the Alder wood at Stodmarsh, Kent, U.K. Not the best image, but the best I could do, and not sure if I will see them again this year.

After the stormy weather Monday much of the blossom was blown from the trees! Grey again today but supposed to change tomorrow for the better :)
Many thanks for all the lovely comments and faves on my images. They are very much appreciated.
The rain stopped and the sun broke through, lighting this spot in the forest in the Lake District... I was secretly hoping a bird might sit on the log for me, to complete the picture, but no such luck!
I like how one of the automated tags that flickr added is 'serene' because that's how it felt.
Thanks for looking :-)
